About Mom Movie (2017)

Devki (Sridevi) is a biology school teacher who shares an estranged relationship with her teenage stepdaughter Aarya (Sajal Ali). One evening, the latter leaves for Valentine's Day party to a farmhouse in which she dismisses the romantic advances of her classmate Mohit Chadha (Adarsh Gourav), who had earlier too attempted adultery by sending hr an obscene video. Humiliated at this public insult h decides to gt back to Aarya by planning a gang rape. He involves his cousin Charles (Vikas Verma), a criminal friend Joginder (Abhimanyu Singh) and Babu Ram Yadav (Pitobash Tripathy)- the security guard of the farmhouse in his plan. As she leaves the party, she is brutally raped and left in a critical condition near a drain. However, due to the lack of enough evidence the four rapists are acquitted by the court. Enraged at this injustice, Devki decides to take the matter into her hands and approaches Daya Shankar Kapoor (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a private detective for help. The rest of the story chronicles the duo?s attempts at punishing the rapists with their own lives at stake. The film marked late actress Sridevi?s last major film appearance before her death. The film also bagged National Award in the best actress (Sri Devi) category making it the first posthumous win in the category.
