About Minari Movie (2021)

Yearning to own a small patch of land and be more than a chicken sexer, Jacob Yi (Steven Yeun), relocates his Korean-American family — wife, Monica (Yeri Han), and children, David (Alan S. Kim) and Anne (Noel Cho) — from California to rural Arkansas in the 1980s.

Yi chases his American Dream, but new challenges await the ambitious man as he hopes to start a 50-acre farm to grow and sell Korean fruits and vegetables.

In this pursuit of a better life, cultural unease and the ever-present threat of financial disaster hang over Jacob's head but he is convinced that he has found his own slice of Eden in the rich, dark soil of Arkansas. Grandma Soonja's humble but resilient minari helps the Yi family figure things out in this semi-autobiographical drama.
