Dhruv Shikar (Rajkummar Rao), a successful entrepreneur, instantly falls for Anya Mehra (Kriti Sanon), a freelance blogger who was invited to cover the launch of his new app. He plays all his cards except for one: she only wants to marry a boy with a sweet family, which Dhruv doesn’t have being an orphan. Willing to go up to any lengths for love, he decides to arrange for a pair of fake parents with the help of his best friend (Aparshakti Khurana).
He convinces Purshottam Mishra (Paresh Rawal), the owner of the dhaba that he once used to work at, and Dipti Kashyap (Ratna Pathak Shah), Mishra’s love interest from the past, to play the respective roles of "father" and "mother". While Dipti is still mad at Mishra for having cold feet just before their plan to elope years ago, Mishra takes upon every chance to woo her back. Thus kickstarts a hilarious journey of disguised roles, comical punches, and loads of drama.
