About Gol Maal Movie (1979)

Ramprasad (Amol Palekar) has been on a desperate hunt for a job, only to face disappointment at each step.

When he gets to know about a vacancy under an orthodox man called Bhawani Shankar (Utpal Dutt), he decides to hop onto the opportunity immediately.

Here's the twist: Bhawani hates modern culture, sports, and Western idealism. For him, a man without a moustache is a man without morals.

With no other option at hand, Shankar decides to lie about his lifestyle, wear a fake moustache, slip into a traditional Kurta, and bag the job.

But when Bhawani spots Shankar at a hockey match nearby, Shankar is forced to further weave his web of lies.

Matters take an even more comical turn as romance starts blossoming between Shankar, and Bhavani’s daughter.
