Carnival Row Season 1 Review
Game of Thrones' exit has left room for a new historical fantasy show to attract audiences craving its flavour. Everyone has plans abound to offer a replacement — HBO is working on multiple Thrones prequels while Netflix is offering Henry Cavill in The Witcher later this year — including Amazon, which harbours big ambitions under founder Jeff Bezos' new guidelines and plans to fork over a billion dollars for a series based in the world of The Lord of the Rings. But while that's still some time away, another of Amazon's fantasy contenders is already here: Carnival Row. It's got mythical creatures such as faeries and fauns living alongside men, and its setting is best described as London circa Jack the Ripper by way of Prague. (It was filmed entirely in the Czech Republic.)
