  • Fast.
    J. Reyes (Dec 4, 2018) on Amazon
Great CPU. Video Card is fast enough to throw down the odd game when I'm away from home (FFXIV, GTA V/Online, Fortnite). I tend not to play the newest AAA titles on the go, so not a concern for me. Excellent battery life. Very glad for the 2 USB-A ports in addition to the USB-C Thunderbolt port.Only complaint is the minor LCD bleed the the bottom left and right hand corners. I only notice them when the screen is displaying something dark, like in some movies or games, but it's definitely not a deal breaker.

  • Beautiful, reliable, and powerful
Lars Bergstrom (Nov 18, 2018) on Amazon
With an amazing keyboard, gorgeous screen, powerful system, and great battery life, this laptop is really a Windows powerhouse laptop to beat. On top of all that, it's VR-capable but still easily carried and looks more professional than most gaming-grade laptops.

Osprey (Nov 21, 2018) on Amazon
This is an excellent computer. Graphics are great - screen is bright and has an excellent image. No lagginess and can handle graphic intense games. The laptop does not get very hot during normal use, and when not gaming has pretty good battery life - far better than I expected when using for normal tasks like web browsing and word processing.Keyboard is great - keys are super responsive and the trackpad tracks movement perfectly.Overall I am very very impressed.

  • An Amazing Laptop that ticks most (if not all) the boxes for most people
    Varun V. (Jan 3, 2019) on Amazon
Got this laptop as an anniversary present for my parents (1080p screen, 512 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, 45 watt 8650H CPY, 1050ti GPU). Was a decision between buying the Huawei Matebook Pro X, but the bigger screen, better battery, better CPU, better GPU, better PORTS selection (needed HDMI and USB-A capabilities), and MUCH EASIER upgradeability (just popping opening the back panel gives u instant access to the SD card, wifi card, and RAM slots) justified going for this over the 200 dollar cheaper Huwaei.Have to say that this notebook is a BEAUTY to behold, with its near bezel-less 15.6" screen that's super bright, mind you. The CPU, RAM, GPU and SSD just about guarantee 7-8 years of useable life for the laptop (which is a HUGE plus for my parents as they REALLY DONT like buying new tech every 4 years).Undervolted the CPU by -0.11v to ensure ZERO overheating (as I know that CAN be an issue, since its a VERY thin and light laptop for the power its packing). As of now, they've (my parents) experienced zero heating issues.Package came within 4 days of purchasing, which was earlier than expected (I live in Bahrain, so international shipping usually takes 3 - 7 days)

  • Fantastic notebook for the money
Daniel J Mobley (Apr 9, 2019) on Amazon
Color me impressed. The Dell XPS 15 9570 is a fantastic notebook! I?m coming from a higher-end MacBook Pro, but felt it was time to upgrade and wanted to go the Windows route this time. I do software development so I wanted an i7, 16GB and minimum 512GB SSD. I opted for the non-touch, HD display because of better battery life versus more pixels (also I can?t stand fingerprints on my screen).Pros:1. Very fast and responsive (6-cores)2. Great display3. Great battery life (10+ hours with how I use it)4. Compact form factor for 15?5. High quality construction, similar to MacBook Pro6. Much less expensive for similarly configured MacBook ProCons:1. Palm rests seem to collect fingerprints more easily than some notebooks (minor nit-pick)If I had to do it over again I would buy this same exact model

  • Awesome laptop for the B.S. degree student
Richard Yim (Jul 26, 2019) on Amazon
Display: The display is fantastic. the color is great, the brightness if even greater. 400 nits is plenty for the eyes. colors are really clean and deep; makes my eyes feel good when I'm working long hours at the library or at home.I/O: The keyboard has a great tactile feel for a laptop, but I would always get a dedicated keyboard with cherry MX switches, preferably blue. The camera is not a big deal, it's actually okay, and image quality is fine as well. Not a really big deal if you don't video chat much, but even then I've used it for talking to friends and it's completely fine.Modularity: This laptop's ram, wifi card, and storage can all be upgraded; so, even if you buy the baseline version, you can always upgrade its components which is nice. Personally, I opened it up and switched out the killer wifi card for an intel wifi card. I plan on upgrading to terabyte by the end of NEXT year. Just a warning for potential buyers who decide to open the back case, be very careful when unscrewing the bottom plate, the screws are really soft, and I slightly stripped my screws, so the next time I open it I'll have to be even more careful. Just keep that in mind.Software support, productivity, in regards to battery life: I can have multiple applications opened all at once: Visual studio, with TeX works and chrome; or maybe MatLab and TeX works; or even RStudio with Adobe Reader Touch. At the library I can last a few hours without charging while having these applications run in various combinations. I know that it's not any CAD design, but for simple programming and scripting for different algo implementations, for exercise, LeetCode and school assignments, the XPS is a champ. You can also use Atom or visual studio code, both of which runs really well. Also, you can get Ubuntu Distro with the Linux subsytem if that's your thing, and Microsoft is supposed to be coming our with its own terminal. Using Microsoft office is also pretty nice; I really like word and PowerPoint over any other word processor and presentation production software.Doubles as a pseudo-desktop, and other recommended accessories: i recently got the DELL SHM2419 which is the monitor in the photo attached to this review. I love to use it with the laptop, and I love extending the displays. I highly recommend getting the monitor with the laptop, especially since the laptop is cheaper than when I bought it, which was around $1400 at the time. I highly recommend buying this model and slowly upgrading the components over the year; this is durable laptop. Also consider getting a laptop case, a wireless mouse, nice headphones, maybe Bose, and a cherry MX blue switch keyboard; I have a Nidoo laptop case with a felt lining.Mild and occasional gaming: I know that BF5 is not a "mild" game by any standard, but the GTX 1050ti laptop edition handles it pretty well. Frame rate is adequate enough to play a few matches of conquest for hours on end, and it's obvious that the fans will be on 100%. It's not very good for the dell XPS in the long run to run intensive games, but it will run them fine in the short run.Recreation: Watching other media like youtube and netflix, or other streaming media services like spotify is complete fine, although I will admit that the speakers are kinda bad; I would recommend getting a proper pair of headphones either way because laptop speakers aren't meant to be great imo, so I have very low standards in that regard. Still, the audio hardware seems great and listening to music through the 3.5mm jack is great.TL;DR: if you are an undergraduate in STEM, or even a grad student, or any professional doing meaningful and difficult work you ought to have this laptop, the specs beat the Mac and any other laptop I can think of off the top of my head. Even this specific edition is adequate enough; although if your want the new i7 processor with 6 cores you should look at getting this year's most recent model.I would definitely buy this laptop all over again.

  • As advertised.
    Brian H. (Jul 23, 2019) on Amazon
Checking out the specs of similar products, this is by far the most bang for the buck available spec wise. Best Buy has a similar model for the same price but with half the RAM, and most others I found had half the storage, as well. Could be a little faster on boot up, but I'm sure Dell didn't splurge on high end MB or RAM and it's still much faster than something with a mechanical HDD. Processes video like a champ.

  • The BEST laptop for a Graphic Designer
Pratik (Oct 21, 2020) on Amazon
Future-Proof yourself with the Dell XPS 15. I use the laptop to work on the Adobe Creative Cloud applications, more specifically, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Premiere Pro (only basic projects), and After Effects (only basic projects). All applications work extremely smoothly simultaneously on Dell XPS because of its fantastic 6-core Intel 8Gen i7 processor, 16 GB DDR4 RAM and 4GB Integrated Graphics Memory (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti). Furthermore, it has a 512 SSD SATA Memory, so you can rest assured that your stored data can be retrieved very quickly. Want to know some interesting facts? Well, the screen size is 15.6" but the screen bezel is a mere 5.6mm meaning your laptop dimensions and weight is reduced dramatically. The Dell XPS 15 will force you to evolve with the times as now, you have to deal with a laptop without an Ethernet port, without a CD-ROM drive, only 2 USB 3.0 ports (as opposed to the common 3 USB 3.0 ports that most laptops come with) and without a number keypad. What it instead gives you is the modern Thunderbolt port (also referred to as the USB Type-C port). If you need more USB ports, buy a thunderbolt USB hub which comes with an ethernet port and all your worries are taken care of. The screen is matte, which I love because as a designer, I hate the glossy, reflective screens. Any hidden gems? Sure, to my surprise, the Dell XPS came with a pre-installed lifetime license to Microsoft Office Home & Student Edition (Powerpoint, Excel, Word and Note) which was a "THANK YOU LORD" moment for me. The laptop has a card reader, an HDMI port, a fingerprint scanner for security and a 1-year McAfee Anti-virus license. There are no heating issues. The packaging from Amazon was sturdy and so was the box from Dell. Once you receive your laptop, retain the main cardboard box as it contains some important details like your ServiceTag which is required for registering your laptop with Dell. Once you get your laptop, and complete the initial set-up, check for windows and firmware updates and get those downloaded and installed. In fact, I also loved the shape of the power adapter with nice rounded curves. Additional purchases required for this laptop would be a thunderbolt USB + Ethernet hub and a keyboard protector skin. The Dell XPS 15 seems to be my solution for the next 4-5 years easily. Are you a Graphic Designer who is NOT a big-time 3D Modeller or a Heavy-duty Gamer? If YES, then, go for the Dell XPS 15 to future-proof yourself. If you are a 3D Modeller or a Heavy-duty Gamer, then, I guess you would need to go for a much more powerful Graphics Card and a Dedicated (as opposed to Integrated) Graphics memory.

  • Gaming experience on XPS 15
Bichkar Ajay (Aug 18, 2019) on Amazon
This laptop is for professional use not for gaming. Laptop heated mostly while playing game, I am using this laptop from 8 months it never disappointed me but while gaming you will experience frame drop on Tencent emulator. But any other game like GTA V, watch dogs, far cry you will love it to play on XPS 15.It has good display than other laptop so while editing any video you will have great experience. As it have 16gb of ram your laptop will run all the heavy software smoothly

I am using this laptop from the past 3 months. Mostly I use this machine for content creations. Average my use is 18 to 20 hours a day and believe it never disappoints me a single time till now. The screen color really great, 99% RGB, 98% Adobe color. Those who work in content creations(Graphics, digital illustration, video editing, etc), this is a perfect laptop for professionals. For gaming, I am not exploring much yet but I hope it will work better in gaming too.

  • Excellent, but flawed, product
    Ammy_Evaluator (Nov 16, 2018) on Amazon
Updated 11/29:After about a month's usage of this laptop, I am compelled to upgrade this review by 1 star to 4 stars. It is a very competent laptop, and its battery life, size, and computing power far overshadow any shortcomings it has. It has handled everything I've thrown at it with aplomb.========================================Original review:This laptop has a lot going for it, with a top of the line CPU, adequate RAM for most tasks, a speedy SSD, and a very decent graphics card (GPU). Add to that its awesome battery life and low weight, and choosing this should be a no-brainer.This laptop replaced an older Surface Pro 3, that I have been using almost continuously for the past few years. My 3d graphics programs (C++/OpenGL/Cuda) that take advantage of the discrete graphics card (which the Surface lacks) run over twice as fast!Unfortunately, it is let down by the terrible screen (FHD vs 4K is fine, but not the terrible backlight bleed, banding apparent even in the stock Windows backgrounds, and distractingly low contrast.) I guess I've been spoiled by my ancient Surface. In addition, its speakers have an annoying vibration when playing music. This vibration seems to be mechanical more than due to amplifier clipping - since it happens at even relatively low volumes on some pieces (at around 40%).Both of these can be fixed with an external monitor and bluetooth speakers, but it is not what I'd have expected from a Dell XPS.Hence my average rating for this product.

  • So Far So Good
IiiQ (Aug 31, 2018) on Amazon
I recently got this for music production. I was mainly looking for something with enough RAM. I do not necessarily understand why the others are giving this laptop a bad wrap. I have been uploading and downloading songs simultaneously while working in Corel Paintshop and Reason 10. I have not had any issues. I noticed someone reviewed about the WiFi turning off. If you didn't know you can just google "my WiFi turned off after restart/update" and there are forums that tell you how to fix it (You have to turn something off, i do not recall the exact thing, but its simple). The battery life on this thing is tremendous, I do not use it as a work laptop but i spend anywhere from 1-6 hours on it per day and a single charge can last me ~5 days. I also really like the fingerprint scanner, way easier than typing a password every time. I also noticed the graphics are really nice for videos and such. Very sleek design and highly compact, good job Dell! All in all I love this product so far.

  • Great Quality, Durability, and Battery Life | Bad thermal issues and Keyboard Design
Eric Moy (Jul 29, 2018) on Amazon
There are many great things about a laptop like this, but a thin and light always comes with its down sides. The 1080p matte screen does wonders for photo editing especially with the 100% sRGB. I've seen the 4k one in person and it is very glossy, really just comes down to personal preference, but this one probably has a somewhat longer battery life. I also find a 4k screen on a 15inch screen some what pointless, because you have to scale it up with windows anyway just to see things. Another upside is the battery life, I can go days without charging this laptop even with doing some light work with photoshop and lightroom and also just browsing the web. Other things that are more intensive you may have to charge everyday. However, I assure you this battery will last you at least your entire work day before you have to charge it. Now, there are two downsides I found to this laptop which are the thermal throttling issues which you can just google a video to figure out how to undervolt the cpu (I've never had a thermal problem since, after under volting my cpu) and the keyboard. The keyboard really annoys me, I can't wrap myself around the fact why dell didn't make a full size 10 key keyboard. There definitely is space on the sides the keyboard and they didn't put speakers where the keyboard could be so there is just blank space. I can live with that, but sometimes without a number pad it is slightly annoying and an inconvenience. What actually aggravates me is I can't tell if it is me or the keyboard, but this keyboard straight up just misses key stroke inputs. I type over 100 wpm and never had this problem on any other keyboard, but I do think it may either be a malfunction or the fact that these keys have a deeper actuation than most laptops. Nonetheless all these problems are manageable and overall a great laptop.
