I bought this laptop about a month ago, and strongly recommend it to people who want a good general purpose/gaming laptop. OS: Ubuntu is a very stable OS, boot time is quick. The advantage of buying a laptop with Ubuntu or Linux is that they are a solid 4-5k cheaper than laptops with Windows, which have a license charge. Can anyways get Windows from outside. Screen: No issues with the screen. Anti-glare sort of works, I guess. Keyboard: Standard, no issues. Touchpad: Standard touchpad, no pointless different syled keypads like in certain HP laptops. Easy to use. Size: The reason I bought a 14 inch laptop is because being a college student, it si far easier to manage. It is more than large enough to watch movies, and it also weighs less, which is a very important factor. Can easily be carried around in 1 hand. I don't know why 15.6 inch has become the industry standard, but I recommend 14 inch to anyone who is not a hardcore gamer or wants a large screen for videos. Weight: Light and convenient. Looks: Perhaps the only negative factor of the laptop. Doesn't really look bad, but it isn't one of those laptops which makes someone stand up and take notice. Very durable though! And unlike other laptops with a glossy finish, which start to look old after a while, this one probably looks the same with time too. Finish: Simple, slightly old-styled. Long lasting, seems like. VGA/HDMI: Only VGA available. If HDMI is a need for you, this laptop is a strict no-buy. Performance: In one word, Excellent. With those sort of specs, can't expect any less! Works smoothly, no lag at all. No issues here!

I'm a student and I bought this laptop for college. Words for short for me. Pros: 1. The price. I got this lappy at Rs. 34000 ( Flipkart offer. Student accounts will get extra 2000 off, and Standard Chartered cards will get 10% off on top of that. Please buy this without a second thought.) 2. The specs for the price. 4th gen i5, 2GB Nvidia Graphics, Nice matte screen, just wow. This thing NEVER heated up yet, unlike HPs craps, and is yet very fast. 3. Battery life. It's excellent. I get 5-6 hours of continuous heavy (non gaming) use. Purchasing a 6 cell battery should easily take you to 8 hours. 4. Size. 14 inches is perfect for carrying around, and is much lighter than bulky 15 inch options. 5. The build quality. It is SUPERB. No creaking, flexing, etc, and the matte finish and sturdyness all over gives a reassuring feeling. Also, the rectangular formfactor looks so much better with Windows than rounded edges. Cons: 1. If you want a desktop replacement, maybe 15.6" laptops will suffice you better. I wanted this size for putting in small bag and carrying around, and also putting on my lap. Having a powerful 22" PC at home, portability was more important for me. So it is not a con for me, but maybe for some. 2. Ubuntu is not enough. I installed Windows 8.1 myself, but new users can buy the other model with Windows preinstalled (For 44k. Please, save money. Installing Windows is a cakewalk on this machine. Dell has all drivers on their product page). Question, the sound volume after installing 8.1 is lower than what Ubuntu was producing. This may be a driver issue, I hope Dell fixes it in their driver update. 3. The trackpad sometimes registers two fingers even when one finger is used. Again, this wasn't present in Ubuntu, but came in Windows when I installed 8.1 and the Synaptics touchpad driver given by Dell. I'm very satisfied with the product and at this kind of price, I think anyone on a budget should go for this without hesitation.

Purchased it about a month back. Happy with the overall performance of my machine. The design is pretty sleek with a "Take me seriously, I mean business" attitude :) One small disadvantage is that Ubuntu is factory shipped with this system and ubuntu does not have built in Nvidia Geforce graphics card drivers for the same which this system has got. Will post further comments after some more months usage. Adios....

I have been using this laptop for the last 1 month and I really love this. Can't expect more at this price range. Pros: 1) 4 GB RAM & 2 GB NVidia Graphics: Enough for most high end games 2) Light at just 2 kgs: Easy to carry 3) Great Audio 4) Very less heating even during gaming. 5) Good battery backup: 5-6 hours of non-gaming use. 6) Anti-glare display: soothing for eyes in long period usage Cons: Nothing deadly really... 1) Screen a little small (14 inches...people go for 15.6 mostly) 2) No numeric keypad: not much of a problem for me as I use a USB keyboard In all, this machine delivers perfectly and I feel this laptop is suitable for moderately demanding uses: a balance of entertainment, gaming,etc

Pros: - GREAT battery backup. 7.45 hrs remaining on full charge in power-saver mode - GREAT for gaming, NFS Most Wanted works flawless even when all graphic settings are high - Matt black color. Will be the same even after years of using. - Light weight. - Good screen. The anti reflective coating has paid off - Prompt delivery by Flipkart! Cons: - Had some major driver issues while installing windows 7. Got the dell support executive to fix it even though he took abt 2-3 hrs.

Great product from dell under 40k. I am writing this review after using this laptop for more then a week. I was a bit confused to buy it because of unipad touchpad, which were terrible in some HP laptops. Multi-touch gesture are working good as in mac. No issues here yet. go for it

I had purchased this system for ?33k from flipkart 3 months back. It comes with Ubuntu, which brings down the cost hugely. I upgraded it to Windows 8.1 later. Most new games work superbly, thanx to the 2gb NVIDIA GeForce graphics. No heating issues even on 6 hrs of continuous gaming (good cooling system). Intel Core i5(4th gen) processor, gives u a smooth performance along with good power efficiency. Battery lasts for more than 5 hrs under normal usage with internet connectivity. 4GB of RAM gives decent performance, and can be upgraded easily if u require more. 500GB of internal hard drive is sufficient enough. I prefer investment in external drive if you need more space (prices are quite low now). The most important feature which I loved about this laptop is the LIGHT WEIGHT. Your bag doesn't feel much heavy, a great plus point for all the students out there. And last but not the least, it is a DELL product!!! DELL service is the best service, I've had in my life till date. You have any difficulty with your system, hardware or software, just give a call to the service center and they help you with absolute professionalism and at the same time with no irritation(unlike many other customer centers). You actually feel good sharing your problems with them. I had a slight issue with my keyboard, I called up Dell. Within 2 days, a service guy came to my house, and replaced the keyboard. Hats off to DELL!!!!!!

I bought this laptop on july 4 and i have been using this for a month. So far it is good. all the features are good. Only thing is they wont provide drivers cd. but it can download from dell.com. you have to download atleast 500mb for drivers. you make sure that before formating ubuntu.. On sep1... I am waiting for my cashback, they said 10% cashback will be credited within end of august but now they are saying sep 30... This is only worring factor whether i am getting or not i dont know.. if i get, i will tell..

I normally use this laptop for Simulation purposes. I am PhD stident. And This laptop is perfect for it. Also as usual perfect delivery by Flipkart. 5 days early from the expected delivery date. The screen doesn't show much reflection.

This is a great product at a great price. Delivery was great and ahead of scheduled time. Product itself is very usable - good screen, high value configuration and includes a graphics card. Ubuntu comes packaged together with libre office and other standard software, including mozilla and thunderbird. If you intend to use this to day to day activities, such a browsing or movie viewing, there is no advantage in going for windows - Ubuntu is a very capable system but may require some familiarity with terminal and stuff. The downside is that the well-packaged Mcafee virus protection becomes useless. Coming from a company sponsored Thinkpad t-series, I needed to make some adjustment. The keyboard is very usable - personally, i would have preferred if the keys travelled further. But the trackpad is quirky at best, particularly the click button. The click button often shift the cursor away from the intended destination. I bought a Logitech B175 Mouse with this. This a handy and responsive mouse and I do not have to use the trackpad. Overall, I am very satisfied with the laptop within my Budget. Flipkart provided a handy discount with further sweetened the deal. Thanks and regards, Soumyadeep Paul

The Vostro is a business laptop with an excellent value proposition. Work ready with Ubuntu, it fits the bill perfectly for a developer friendly build, solid performance and excellent backup/restore solution and guaranteed support with the OS. Build quality : Although the body is made of plastic, it looks premium and can take a bit of abuse at office. While obviously not a magnesium body, it is fairly robust and built well. Form factor : The laptop is very sleek in design when compared to other business laptops. It is also lightweight when compared to the latitude series or equivalent competitor brands. The 14" screen is absolutely perfect to work with. Combined with a very good camera and microphone and great audio characteristics, this one is a winner. Performance : the 4200U processor is a Quad core i5 4th gen processor with very good bang for the buck, in terms of performance. While not an i7, it fulfils my development needs, compiling code quickly and runs my webserver/database easily. the 4 GB ram is quite adequate for most purposes, but can be upgraded to 8GB module easily, improving performance. The 64 bit core performance is very good. Battery : The battery is pretty decent, with a 3-4 hour backup on wifi. I switched my hdd to an SSD and have seen the battery improve to about 5-6 hrs on regular duty. Graphics: Steam (linux) works well with the laptop and can run games quite decently. I have not tried running CoD or other FPSes on it as it is a work machine. YMMV Heating : The laptop does run a little warm, especially with the SSD upgrade that I performed. However, with the regular sata hdd, it was a lot cooler. Overall, in case you are looking for a good development box/ decent gaming box, at a low price point, look no further! Highly recommended!

this laptop is one good piece of electronics from dell, light weight, fast, nice display, amazing battery back up, gaming performance is really good and NO heating problem. I was not able to find any cons in it. must buy product

Every body has been giving specs so not gonna get on them .. Didn't bought from flipkart got it from compuindia as on dell website snapdeal and amazon was flagged for warranty and was not sure of fk as well.. 1. The anti virus worked for me well 2. There are shortage of Led's (only 2 one of caps lock and other is on front) 3. The speaker volume is crisp and clear but not that loud 4. No HDMI 5.About the warranty I talked to DELL and they said that warranty starts from when laptop has been shipped from dell factory and can be rectified by calling dell..(dell support is best). Coming to performance It is one of the best performer in price range. The games i tested on it. 1. Fifa 15 High settings - 45-60 fps 2. COD MW (1-3) all ran good in high settings 3. Far cry 3 : ran good on med settings 4. COD Black ops 2 and ghost ran good on med settings 5. watch dogs only ran on low settings. will be testing more games and updating the review..

I am deeply satisfied with the product as a whole. Each and every component is working as i have expected it. Best for the price of 36,000 INR.

A simple no frills laptop, very slim and elegant. One of the best top covers I've seen. Or maybe the best. Only thing is it does not connect to my TV. Will get in touch with the company. They are always very helpful. This is my second Dell laptop. I'll always buy Dell in laptops.

After doing Research for entire one day at various prominent showrooms in Delhi including authorized suppliers, I tried through Flipkart & was able to get the product at much lower prices. The product reached me within 48 hours of ordering. Packaging was excellent. Product is functioning well. No issues. Keep it up. Flipkart.

It is light-weight and powerful. It does not have any LED indicators except for power LED, even that turns off soon after the laptop boots - it does not really matter to me but it was a surprise to not find those indicators that I am so used to.

It is a nice budget laptop for every day use. Value for money. However, Windows OS key was not supplied, so I have not been able to add more features to it.

Great product

This is the best laptop till date i have used. This is super fast. And the best thing is its seller. This seller has always delivered product with in given time limits.

i bought this laptop basic use, some light gaming and photoshop. Display: colorful display with good brightness. Battery: Good battery backup. With my use, around 5 hours. Performance: Everything is fluid. This has a graphic card but its entry level. I did research b4 buying this and it was the best under 35k. There are others but they have 3rd generation 35watt cpu's which run hot in this weather. Best Feature: Low power needs, stays cool even in this weather and good performace for the price. I checked the power usage using HWinfo64 and it showed ~ 5 watt at half brightness and while reading a pdf. At that kind of usage and battery capacity it should go on to more than 6 hrs. Note: Use net banking option or debit/credit card to shave off 10% (as per scheme now)

Pros: Good Battery backup - 4-5 hrs Good processor Dedicated graphics card. - can play games in low settings Lightweight - this is exactly what my wife was looking for our Annivesary Gift Chicklet keyboard AntiVirus Mcafee free- but I prefer Avast aftter all these years of use :) Cons: No light for keyboard. so guess will have to buy the USB thing. The free bag is average, the laptop deserves a better which i will buy later :) No CD provided for Drivers in case you want to go with Windows, the installation is Ubuntu! wont work on windows 8 - you need windows 7 or 8,1. Despite the cons Price wins it all!! Five Stars for this one.. Again thumbs up to Flipkart for excellent delivery before committed date! Overall very good experience, my wife is also delighted.
