Unresponsive trackpad, slowing fast

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a light and meant to be a powerful laptop. However, its trackpad is quite unresponsive forcing you to keeping going back to what you have typed or changed since the trackpad did not respond. My finger joints have started to ache because I am unconsciously hitting the trackpad harder to compensate for the unresponsiveness.
Additionally, the rather new laptop begins to respond to commands slower. I expect that in the 3rd or 4th year of a laptop's life, but this is in year 1.
Finally the trackpad keys are a bit fiddly.
I would not spend money to buy this. I have always held Dell in high esteem but this is a poor quality product.
