Jennifer L. Sheehan (Jul 24, 2017) on Amazon
This laptop is solid, powerful and affordable. For the price, there isn't anything close to it. I ordered two of these, one for myself, one for my spouse, it plays all the games we play on steam (borderlands 2, Counter Strike Global offensive, Skyrim) at full settings without breaking a sweat. It has onboard graphics on the AMD A-10 chip (R-5) that are powerful enough to play Minecraft full settings and view distance at 45-72 FPS. It has a backlit keyboard with three settings, off, low and high. It is a good purchase and I think we'll be using it for a while. I would definitely recommend to a friend in search of a budget notebook.

Great Gaming Laptop for the money. Daughter can run all the games she plays without a problem. Screen is super bright, and 1080P! Back-lit keyboard great for late-night gaming. Also has room for upgrades, which I plan to do as time goes on. Only one of the two dims is occupied, and can accommodate another 8gigs. Also there is the SSD bay waiting.Yea, they make other Inspiron 5000 Gaming Laptops with faster processors, but for the non-competitive gamer that see this laptop as a major upgrade, totally satisfied.

  • Very impressed
Kaitlyn (Mar 12, 2018) on Amazon
I will preface this review by saying I'm not extremely versed in computers, far from it. I don't know a lot about them and my brother actually picked out this laptop for me. Before I received this laptop, I had been using an Acer Aspire from 3 years ago that had cost $250 New. In comparison to my acer, this laptop is amazing. It took less than half the amount of time to do all the updates on the Dell, download origin and steam and download all my games and dlc as it did to just download 3 games on my acer. The speaker is very nice quality, I usually listen to music on my phone because the speakers were better than my acer, now my phone is inferior. The graphics of my games are very much improved too. I would consider myself a casual gamer, I don't play "tons" of games and the most expansive game I play in regards to graphics and world size is Dragon Age inquisition. However, all the gameplay is now less glitchy with movement and a much clearer picture. This may not be the "computer nerd's" laptop or meant for an extremely serious pc gamer, but I'm very happy with my purchase.

Excellent Notebook, I don't know that I would really call this a gaming laptop though. It does not have the best gaming performance.

  • A great laptop if you update the bios
LibertyMom (May 9, 2018) on Amazon
This is a basic gaming laptop and it runs modern games med/high details at 1080p, 30-60fps. Unfortunately, you won't get that out of the box. At least I didn't. The laptop comes installed with Radeon 17.1.1 drivers, which does not seem to support the GPU included (Mine is listed as a RX 560). This results in games running using the APU graphics instead. You must use the number on the bottom of the laptop on the Dell support site to access the product page to download the updated bios, which will support Radeon 18.2.1 drivers. With the new bios and drivers installed, you will then need to bring up Radeon Settings and under System Settings, select Switchable Graphics and set games to run in High Performance Mode. The game will then utilize the GPU and you will get performance close to a RX 460.The laptop performs well. Applications will run using the APU graphics to save power, and you have the option to run heavier applications using the GPU. It is a nice setup once you get it working. I may give this product 5-stars, but that is because I was able to set it up. It is clear that youtube reviewers did not enable the GPU, so their performance tests do not give a good indication of the performance of this laptop.

Uncle Ray Ray (Nov 17, 2018) on Amazon
I would definetly buy again. There were some issues that needed to be addressed. But the seller gave me a smoking deal and i am very computer savvy so i have an all AMD gaming laptop that is so badass that i ran a diagnostic to switch to RAID-0. It said "THE SYSTEM IS RUNNING AT OPITMIUM EFFICIENCY THERE WOULD BE NO GAIN IN PERFORMANCE" I will definetly check this sellers listings before i buy from anywhere else.

Joshua Hamm (Jun 8, 2018) on Amazon
Definitely a great laptop for gaming. I use it on road trips and even when im not on one. It plays everything pretty well. Deducting one star for an issue i had when i got it that made it drop fps on games constantly no matter the game. I had to reinstall windows to fix it.

  • Great laptop (with a little tweaking)
SGP (Aug 13, 2018) on Amazon
This is built like a tank, solid, heavy duty high impact plastic with red accents. The keyboard even lights up in red (very elegant) Right out of the box it exudes of quality, I'm a custom PC builder and repair tech, I only consider Dell when it comes to laptops. The processor is a respectable AMD A-10 Quad Core and has 8 gb of ram which is plenty for what I'll be using it for. It comes with a 1 terabyte 5400 rpm hard drive and honestly the laptop was slow, very slow. I immediately replaced the old fashion HHD with a brand a brand new Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD . The laptop simply flies now, runs like a $1000.00 dollar machine. So for $678.00 I have a great built, easy on the eyes killer laptop. I highly recommend this machine.

  • Picture quality is bad.
AS (Jan 27, 2018) on Amazon
I bought this as a christmas gift for my daughter so that she could do some light gaming when away from home. We've used it for about a month now and I have to say I'm not impressed with the picture quality at all. I expected a vivid and bright picture on screen but it was not the case. I'm so disappointed. I don't know much about computers but I tried different color settings and it didn't help at all. I will be returning this laptop. It makes me feel like my eyes are bad.

  • Great gaming laptop
Cedar (Mar 21, 2018) on Amazon
Great gaming laptop, but the driver they included had a update that screwed with it, which requires it to be manually adjusted. I recommend taking it to someone who knows how to do that if you want to play anything on it. Otherwise, it runs great!Basically, you need to uninstall the old graphics drivers entirely. Reinstall the new AMD driver (v18.0+), and tell it to not keep the system up to date, cause it'd install an inferior version once you restart your pc.

  • Watch headlines of sales carefully
Mark Dewarr (Aug 5, 2018) on Amazon
This computer was advertised as a gaming computer. This is not even close to a gaming computer. I bought it for simple games like Minecraft and Civilization 4, but the more I used it for gaming, the more it failed and the system got corrupted. I spent more time on Dell's technical support phone than using the computer, had it sent back to Dell once, and still had massive problems with it. I finally got a technician that said this computer's configuration is over a year and half old, and only good for email, office, surfing the web, and very basic things.Be careful with shady sellers who put key words into headline and tell you this a computer it is not.

  • it works and doesnt overheat but performance is pretty bad for new games
Snowman (Sep 1, 2018) on Amazon
as the title says it doesnt overheat and it works but the performance in the newest games is pretty bad mostly due to the very very slow quadcore in this machine. its so slow discord uses a wopping 10-15% of the cpu so discord being open will hurt ur gaming performance a good chunk. this laptop could be a decent laptop for older games like anything around 2015 or older but even then there will still be a few games that do not run well on it because the very slow quadcore cpu

  • Not a high end gaming laptop
Ashtin Brown (Jul 15, 2020) on Amazon
Had it for about a year, FS2004 is very smooth but FSX has its lags here & there. Other games I can not speak of... but the mouse pad and keyboard feels really good. Booting time is not bad either, however the laptop runs really fast with & without any games/simulators. Updating the drivers help in some way but it?s just best to not get this for any high end games, really great PC tho, recommended for beginners

  • It's alright for the price
    Jonhatan T. (Jul 14, 2020) on Amazon
I've had this thing for about two years now and it's finally on its last legs. Right now the fans have given up and I'm gonna see if I can get them fixed. For gaming it's alright, it can handle running most of my games but it has a problem of randomly giving me blue screens. Even if it's just playing a video. Really annoying when I'm in a match and it just suddenly dies on me. I would say if you are okay with random bsod at least once a week then it's fine for games.
