Datawind budget tablet, Underachiever but a good buy at the given price.

UbiSlate 7Ci is a basic utility tablet from DataWind, the makers of Aakash tablet. But despite its low price point, the tab packs in some good features. This 7-inch budget tablet looks very plain with a Power key at the top Right. The plastic body makes it light weight. There is a front facing 1.3MP camera.
Considering the sub-Rs 5,000 price tag (but available at a discounted price of Rs 3,500), the UbiSlate 7Ci has a responsive capacitive display. With 800x480 pixel resolution, the screen feels decently bright. The sound is also adequate. Running Android Ice-Cream Sandwich, the 7Ci has a 1GHz processor paired with a 512 MB RAM. While it could easily browse the web, there were instances when the device failed to respond. This meant a forcefully restart of the device.
Unlike other Android devices, the main menu doesn't offer an array of applications. The App launcher only offered basics like browser, calculator, calendar, camera, etc. Apart from PlayStore, Datawind hasn't bothered to add even basic apps here. While we could easily browse the web over Wi-Fi, we could not play YouTube videos on the browser. And Wi-Fi is the only connectivity options as the tab does not have a SIM card slot.
The battery backup of the tablet isn't impressive - it automatically turns off too when the battery level falls below 10 per cent.
