The entry barrier to Android is gradually getting lower, as new technology trickles even further down the pricing chain. We've recently seen good budget phones such as the Realme C2 (Review) and Redmi 7A (Review), which offer decent performance without costing a whole lot of money. Coolpad is attempting to compete in this space with its recent launch, the Cool 3 Plus.

Coolpad Cool 3 Plus Summary

The Cool 3 Plus from Coolpad is one of the few phones at Rs. 6,499 which feature 3GB of RAM and a fingerprint sensor. The 5.7-inch HD+ display has decent brightness but the colour gamut is weak, whic causes noticable banding in colour gradients. It's light but a little on the thicker side. The plastic body is built well but doesn't feel too premium and attracts fingerprints quite easily.

The MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core SoC isn't a very good performer and even with 3GB of RAM, Android is a little laggy. The interface is easy to get used to, with some customistions done. The rear fingerprint sensor works ell but itsn't quick. There's face unlock too but this fails to work in low-light. Gaming performance is average and the rear of the phone gets hot.

Battery life is decent but not great as the 3000mAh battery just about managed to last a full day. The rear 13-megapixel camera has a very narrow aperture and the lack of HDR results in wonky shots, even under good light. Autofocus speeds aren't great either. The selfie camera is also quite average.

Even though Coolpad has managed to hit an attractive price tag, we think you'd be better off with phones such as the Realme C2 or even the Redmi 7A. Both these phone lack a fingerprint sensor and have 1GB lesser RAM, but the overall performance is a lot better.

well, I have done a lot of research around the entry-level smartphones & Coolpad Cool 3 Plus is among the best options considering the overall configuration...one of the very few ones powered by the mediatek chipset built on 12nm fabrication
