Priced at Rs. 34,990, Sony DSC-RX100 comes with the world's first 1.0-type Exmor CMOS sensor with a resolution of 20.2 effective megapixels. The sensor of this camera has an area that's around four times larger than the 1/2.3-type imager in regular point-and-shoot cameras. Thus, it helps in capturing far more light than small-sensor cameras, and the images clicked through DSC-RX100 more detailed. Sony DSC- RX100 can also shoot Full HD movies with very low noise.
Apart from the large sensor, Sony DSC-RX100 packs in an ultra-bright Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens with 3.6x optical zoom range. The lens also features an Advanced Aspherical (AA) glass element that contributes to the camera's compact dimensions without compromising on performance or resolution.
Another interesting feature is this new camera from Sony is that it comes with a high-speed autofocus, which locks onto your target in as little as 0.13 seconds. However, the actual time may vary slightly depending on the target and the lighting conditions. There is also speedy burst shooting option that can capture up to 10 frames per second (full-resolution).
Interestingly, DSC-RX100 comes with Fn button, which can be assigned to a frequently-used functions for instant access. There is also a memory recall option that can stores up to three groups of settings for instant recall, which means that you don't have to keep changing various setting before clicking and will help save time.
Sony DSC-RX100 will be available at selected Sony Center and selected key camera stores across India starting today.
