More than a year after its global launch, Panasonic has finally launched its flagship digital single lens mirrorless (DSLM) camera - the Lumix GH4 - in India. Panasonic has priced the Lumix GH4 at Rs. 1,11,990 for the body-only variant and there is another bundle, including a 12-35mm F2.8 lens, which will set you back by Rs. 1,72,990.
The main USP of the Lumix GH4 is its 4K video recording capability. The camera can shoot video at both - DCI 'Cinema 4K' (4096 x 2160) and UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) - resolutions. Sealed inside its magnesium alloy body is a 16-megapixel micro four thirds sensor. It has a maximum shutter speed of 1/8000th of a second and a flash sync speed of 1/250th of a second. It has a continuous shooting speed of 12fps with a prefixed focus. In addition to the 4K capabilities, the GH4 also includes focus peaking and two zebra settings (to highlight over-exposed regions). It can also generate colour bars for easy calibration.
The Lumix GH4 very similar to the Lumix GH3. The newer camera has dimensions of 133x93x84mm and weighs 560 grams. The battery is rated to last for 500 shots before needing charging. There is an electronic viewfinder and it has a high resolution of 2.36m dots, and the rear touchscreen LCD has a resolution of 1.04m dots.
Speaking at the launch, Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India said "We aim to cater to the increasing demand for specialised products, which not only match the global standards but also appeal to the local customers. With GH4, we are bringing the 4K technology to India, which has been cherished by many by international clientele."
