Nikon launched its first action camera during this year’s CES but pricing and availability details were still up in the air. The wait is now over, as come October, you’ll be able to pick one up for a suggested retail price of $499.95 (approximately Rs. 33,500). Nikon also launched two more action cameras during Photokina 2016 – the KeyMission 170 and KeyMission 80, which will also go on sale next month for $399.95 (approximately Rs.26,800) and $279.95 (approximately Rs. 18,800) respectively. All three will be available in India by November.
The number in the camera names refer to the field of view the lens is able to capture. The KeyMission 360 is capable of capturing 360 degree video thanks to two fish-eye lenses. The KeyMission 170 captures 170 degree field of view and is waterproof, shockproof and freeze-proof. The camera sports a 8.3-megpixel CMOS sensor, f/2.8 aperture and supports 4K or full-HD video capture. There’s no optical stabilisation but you do get electronic vibration reduction to help reduce the bumps and shakes. There’s a rear-mounted LCD display for live view, playback and changing the settings, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and comes with a standard tripod mount.
The KeyMission 80 is more of a wearable action camera and is designed to be used the vertical orientation. It comes with a holster for clipping onto your bag pack or hiking gear. It features a 12-megapixel main sensor with an f/2.0 lens and a secondary ‘selfie’ 5-megapixel camera with a f/2.2 aperture. It’s also weather proof and comes with a 1.75-inch LCD display for framing shots and viewing content and supports Nikon’s SnapBridge app thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
