According to Bloomberg, a person familiar with HTC's plans claims the company may unveil the GoPro-like camera, as well as a new smartphone optimized for selfies, at the event on October 8. HTC's tube-shaped GoPro-like camera will reportedly feature a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens and is said to be able to directly connect to devices running Android and iOS operating systems.
The report also notes that the purported HTC GoPro-style camera would include both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the camera and may release its own Android and iOS apps to connect the camera.
The person also said that HTC has delayed the development of a wearable device and it may not be released until next year. On Thursday, CNET had reported that HTC is gearing up to unveil its own Android Wear smartwatch in 'early 2015', and claimed it would include a customised version of the Android Wear, something similar to the company's smartphones that run Sense UI on top of Android OS.
The CNET report contradicts an earlier report that HTC might have abandoned its smartwatch plans.
CNET claimed that it has learned from its sources the smartwatch from the Taiwanese giant still exists and is due early next year. It further added that the company's first smartwatch will include "elements of design" and will pack new features for consumers. For the latest tech news and reviews, follow Gadgets 360 on X, Facebook, WhatsApp, Threads and Google News.
