This is an excellent laptop in terms of specs, performance and feel. However I purchased this laptop for installing multiple OS. Except windows all other OS have a problem with the mouse (both touchpad and external mouse). This problem is apparently because Asus configures its devices only for windows. So think before you buy. If you are going to use only Windows, this is the laptop for you.

Great built quality, has usb 3.0, great performance. the screen is kind of o.k for the price and the sound this laptop produces is simply mind blowing, it does not require any external laptop speakers. Great laptop for entertainment/multi tasking with professional softwares.

Best ever configuration for this price (8GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, HD CAMERA, 2 GB Graphic Card NVIDIA 820, i7 4th Generation processor) 2. Laptop doesn't heat up easily..thanx to i7 4th generation processor) 3. Excellent battery back up of nearly 5 hours 4. Two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 ports 5. Sleek and slim n awesome metallic body design 6. Instant 2 sec switch on..courtesy Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit CONS: No cons as of now..this laptop is a masterpiece by Asus P.S.: 1. I initially thought 1.8 GHz will be a bit less but trust my words, it has a TURBOBOOST OF 3.0 GHz..which amply suffices the needs of all high processing applications. 2. I feel the Kingston lock port is of no use.

this is a nice laptop under 50000 category.i had ordered this laptop after seeing the reviews given by users in flip kart

I ordered this product on 31st october took one day delivery and it arrived yesterday 1s November. Flipkarts delivery process is amazing. Packing was done well but i think the box which the laptop has been packed in need to be a little more strong suggest to use a heavy ply for the packaging because i did see stress marks on the outside of the box which suggests that it wasnt handled with care. I would hope to see Flipkart to rectify this. On the product Pros- 1. Excellent Build Quality. It feels firm and solid 2.For the price the configuration is excellent for a main stream laptop. 3.Windows was easy to boot via usb and install 4.Blazing fast performance 5. Battery life is at 5 hours which is excellent for a laptop of this size 6.Tested Masseffects 2,3 crysis , Assassins creed 3 ,4. .Played for a few hours on medium and high setting. Worked like dream. But there are limitations. 7. Regular use laptop work quite cool and the large ports help in cooling. 8.Internal speakers are just okay.nothing phenomenal but it does not jar or crack at high volume. Cons. 1. Processor max out at 2.91 GHz and not 3.00 GHz. I checked intels website and its mentioned 3.00 GHz this info is given wrong by intel itself but this should have been seen my asus and flipkart 2. THe headphone jack is not working properly with my headphones but it works well when i plug in my speakers or play normally from the laptop speakers.i am not sure if this is a defect or any adjustments have to be done.(Flipkart CE - please help on this pls) Overall Satisfied with the product and to be honest i had my eye on this model. only after reading 3 reviews of this product in October made it clear that its good and was worth the purchase Update 1 Regret to inform the product I purchased has issues 1. Headphone jack issue is not resolved its a defective piece. 2. Wifi has problems it was working initially now it refuses to connect to any of my wifi networks tether with my phone. Works when I sit next to the router . tried formatting and reinstalling windows . still doesn't work. 3.finally after requesting fora replacement on 6 th November and so many calls and scathing letters to flipkart they decided today after I had told them no more I didn't appreciate they way I was being handled they decided to give out a replacement..I won't go into details but I am sure there are people who have had issues with flipkart will understand what I am talking about. 4.tgey have promised my replacement by tomorrow I will give my second update on how it goes. 5.i don't blame flipkart for the defective piece but I am upset with how their customer service and tech team work. If you want the consumer to have trust in you it's imperative you give call backs and assure them you are working on it. I shouldn't have to call and make you do your jobs and write such things. 6.Flipkart has managed to retain me as their customer but you are on a thin thread so please be careful with your customers.Rememeber we can buy the same thing at chroma reliance Amazon eBay etc etc Update 2 Received the new piece. Thanks Flipkart. I regret to inform.My audiojack is still not working complained with flipkart again and called up asus regarding this issue if there is precedence. The only thing i was told to do was to update the driver from the asus site. Did that there is no relief. Jackphone wont work properly. Update 3 I have finally resolved the issue MYSELF. The issues is with in the BIOS itself. Basically if you turn on the welcome animation and sound that messes up the headphone jack. I turned it off now my product is working properly. People who have been affected with this issue please try doing what ive tried. Thanks

A very nice laptop indeed for the price! Pros: Very low heating Good battery backup Good build quality Nicely textured Cons: Poor viewing angles poor audio quality Doesnt work out of the box for linux. The linux part: The trackpad in this laptop doesnt work out of the box with any linux distros. You can make it work by editing the boot config by: *. hit 'e' on grub. *. go to the line starting with linux and add "psmouse.proto=bare" exactly without the quotes *. press f10 to boot. *.Now you will have a working mouse. No gesture or multi touch features. This is not a permanent fix. It resets at reboot. search on google on how to set linux kernel boot config for permanent fix. Also, the wireless doest work out of the box. Searched and found drivers for ralink rt3290 and installed it. wifi works good now. The display brightness adjust key combo doesnt work at all. there is no fix for it. you can use the tool in unity to do the same and that works well. Over a very good laptop for windows and good for linux only if you know how to fix the issues in linux.

Got this a couple of weeks ago. No heating issues, no performance or battery issues either. The laptop is fairly light. Do not buy the bags that come in the combo though. Those combos are stupid.

how to boot windows in this free dos........................................ can any one explain ?????????????????????????????

(disclamer: very biased review up ahead) I do not know which Linux kernel, people reviewing this product, were using. For people who has used *all the distros* please do use all the distros and check (try archlinux or variants). I purchased this laptop in mind of using with Linux *only*. OOTB, I had a working touchpad. I didn't spill any coffee on the keyboard, so all the keys were in working condition. Pros: * good sound. * decent battery. * touchpad with multi-touch support -- was able to use a circular scrolling with two fingers, also supports 3 finger gesture (not tested). * works flawlessly with Bluetooth mouse. * works nicely for me!! Cons: * Not anti-glare screen. * Not great for gaming. * Build Quality: C+ * Good luck making the NVIDIA card work in hybrid mode in linux(applicable to any other laptop). Conclusion: Can do better. Consider twice before buying if you have other options. Not great for Linux. PS: Purchased from Asus showroom *not* from flipkart.

Hello everyone, after a devastating experience with my dell ultrabook, i switched over to asus after going through the wonderful reviews about this laptop. For your assurance i found the product pretty well matching my expectations, but one thing about which no one ever mentioned in any review was the position of the light of caps lock. As in all laptops, the caps light is not placed right on the caps button, instead it is placed way towards the left bottom side of the laptop. This is not the problem, the problem is that the brightness of caps light is so less that you cant see if it is on or off during day time, and they havent provided a backlight keyboard if this laptop was only meant to be used in the darkness. The problem goes to its peak when you start typing your passwords, because you barely will know if your caps are on or off!! So, think about this before going for this, rest assured, the laptop is great.....

Not up to the mark

Price was increased in Flipkart twice in last 1 week... it was 46000 couple of days back... its much better in other sites where it costs only 45k

I purchased the laptop three months ago. No problem was found at beginning. It was smooth. Core i7 was absolutely flawless at the beginning. Then problems started to grow. Problems which I faced till now---- 1. Laptop mouse pad is very disturbing. ASUS smart gesture is not intuitive. Its a pain, opening a folder. This problem is there from the beginning. 2.For A week or so a new problem has come up. Most of the keypad switches are not working properly. I may have pressed a switch thousand times while completing this review. Its really very very embarrassing. 3. Though it consist of 2 GB graphics card , but that only GT 820M, which is an entry level graphics card. You can't play high end games like battlefield 4 , Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare etc in this laptop. Though I have already completed battlefield 3, COD:Black OPS2,NFS rivals etc in high end resolution. They ran fine but you may feel some glitches while playing. 4.It is a 4th gen Core i7, but entry level.This is 4500U type, which is a 2 core processor. So the combination of graphics card and processor is not so good , if you are a professional gamer. Else this laptop will serve your purpose. 5. Speaker is awesome. This is only the best part of this laptop. You won't have to buy a new external speaker for this laptop.

Fast laptop. Good for developers if looking for high end laptops at cheaper price. Definitely Value for money. But parts are very fragile. Screen got permanent marks due to lid touching the keyboard when closed. Had to go to service center almost twice within warranty period for ram and hard drive issues.

Be warned due to it touch pad issues this doesn't work on Ubuntu, even external mouse is extremely buggy and unusable.

asus k55vm has 6 Cache memory while this x550ld has 4 Cache memory ... k55vm is faster than x550ld k55vm has i7 3rd gen x550ld has i7 4th gen still k55vm is better choice then this one i dont know why the have not built this laptop as quad core....

The display is so bad that reading something on this laptop is very hard. The text is not sharp at all. Other irritating things I found after using it for around two weeks 1) The touchpad is a disaster. Its very difficult to scroll and control the touchpad. The whole thing behaves insane. 2) The keypad also is not reliable. For some letters you might end up typing more than one time. 3) Image quality is poor. 4) There is no port for the mike. 5) The USB ports are placed so near that you can never insert two devices into the port at the same time. 6) The advertised i7 processor is having only two cores. The specs should be more detailed when a product is put for sale. 7) The notebook is pre installed with DOS as the operating system The only good thing which is worth mentioning is the sound quality. Apart form this everything else points to a cheap product. The lesson learnt dont buy a product seeing just the specs
