Hoping to boost engagement from Indian foodies, Zomato has launched its premium, subscription-based programme called Zomato Gold in the country. The initiative is aimed to provide customers with complimentary meals and drinks from over 1,200 curated restaurants and bars. The Gurugram-headquartered company had first launched Zomato Gold in Portugal and UAE in early 2017.

Initially, Zomato has launched the Zomato Gold in three significant markets across India, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Subscribers can access the programme directly from the Zomato app or through its official site. The paid subscription for the Gold programme is available at Rs. 599 for three months and Rs. 1,499 for a year. Early members can opt for an early bird offer by paying Rs. 299 for the three-month plan or Rs. 999 for the annual one.

While its availability in UAE is limited to drinks and in Portugal specific to food, Indian subscribers can avail both food and drinks through Zomato Gold - note, the programme is only for dining out, and not for home delivery. Once the subscribers place an order at the Gold Food partner restaurants or Gold Drinks partner restaurants, they are provided with a complimentary dish or up to two complimentary drinks. Additionally, Zomato Gold members get access to curated food and drink events.

Users can purchase a Zomato Gold plan by going to the Dining Out/Drinks & Nightlife tab from the Zomato app or by visiting the Zomato site. Benefits available through the premium service can be availed at a Gold partner restaurant by searching its name on the Zomato app and tapping the unlock Gold visit option.

"We are super excited to bring Zomato Gold to India, and are sure our users, as well as restaurant partners, are both going to find this hugely beneficial," said Deepinder Goyal, founder and CEO, Zomato, in a press statement.

In addition to its Gold programme, Zomato has announced that the Zomato Treats has now reached the milestone of over 60,000 subscribing members. The subscription service was launched in India back in April to offer a free dessert with every online order at a charge of Rs. 249 per year.
