Facebook-owned messaging service WhatsApp may be working on an app for iPad users as references of WhatsApp for iPad are spotted on the latest version of WhatsApp Desktop, which is currently in beta for Windows 10 users.
According to a tweet from popular WhatsApp change tracking website WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is gearing up for a dedicated application for iPad - however, it may just be an application wrapper for WhatsApp Web, similar to how WhatsApp for Desktop has been designed.
"Great news for all WhatsApp users having an iPad device. Our rumour about a WhatsApp for iPad app was real (real like our other rumours as WhatsApp Business and the Facebook infrastructure)," WABetaInfo tweeted.
WABetaInfo also stated on Twitter the WhatsApp Desktop 0.2.6968 app references an iPad application. As seen in the image below, the WhatsApp Desktop is said to contain references to "Tablet-iOS" - a reference that is hard to mistake for anything but Apple's iPad.
WhatsApp has recently introduced a series of new features like 'Delete for Everyone' that allows its over one billion users to revoke their messages in case they sent those to a wrong person or group.
To use the feature users will need to make sure they have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on their device. The recipient must also have the latest version installed for the Delete for Everyone feature to work. Select the message(s) you want to delete - note, this only works if the message is less than 7 minutes old. Tap the delete/ trash icon on the screen. Now the dialogue box will show the new option Delete for Everyone.
WhatsApp also tipped the upcoming inclusion of group voice calls in its latest beta version for iPhone in October.
