Vine, the micro-video sharing app owned by Twitter, has introduced a new 'Favourite' button to keep users updated with their favourite 'Viners' or Vine artists.
Placed on the top right corner of the Viner's profile page, the Favourite button can be seen as a Star inside a circle, tapping on which lets the app send push notifications to the user each time the favourited Viners upload a video. Users can also view all their Favourites or updated notifications from the settings menu.
"You will receive a push notification and a notification in your Activity feed every time your favorites post a Vine. At any time, you can view all your favorites or update your notifications from Settings within the app," confirmed Vine's Engineer, Felix Fung in the blog post. The updated Vine app is available to download from the Google Play and App Store.
The Vine update will not only let users keep a track of their favourite Vine artists, but will also acts as a more effective tool for artists to share their content, ensuring their uploaded content reaches their fans. This would avoid letting videos getting lost in the wide range of videos in the user's news feed.
Xbox One, Microsoft's latest gaming console, last month got the Vine app in select regions. Notably, the Vine video-sharing app is available only for Xbox Live members in 34 countries. Xbox One users can play, pause, and search for Vine videos using the console's Kinect voice or gesture function. Users can also browse through "popular Vines, explore channels like Art, Music & Dance, and Comedy, view playlists, and more," as per the announcement.
Vine last updated its app in August and introduced new features including capture options, the video import feature, and video editing tools.
