As seen in the earlier release notes, expanded tweets seem to be a major part of the update. Twitter's partnership with MLB, Kickstarter, Etsy and The Atlantic will allow users to view details of images and even play videos along with the tweets. This also includes summaries for news articles and more. We'd like to mention here that not all users can see this updated feature, since the roll out is gradual.
The search autocomplete feature also makes an appearance allowing users to view more suggestions when searching. As promised, push notifications now allow alerts whenever the selected users tweet or retweet.
Users can turn on push notifications for tweets for any user by choosing to "turn on mobile notifications" via the action button on their profile page. They can also choose to edit these settings on their mobile device as per their convenience.
Another useful feature includes tapping on a user's profile picture that directly leads to their profile page. Larry the Twitter bird also been replaced by its recently released avatar.
With regards to special events, here's what the official Twitter blog stated - "Now you can discover the best tweets and photos for events experiences like twitter.com/#NASCAR on their iPhone. Now, Twitter for iPhone complements any live event, whether you're watching from home or from the stands. (And remember to search #NASCAR within your app this coming Sunday, July 15, during the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 to watch the race unfold from the perspectives of drivers, celebrities, commentators and fans.)
