Twitter has finally rolled-out a major update to its Windows Phone app, seven months since it last updated the app. The update comes with some new features as well as some UI tweaks.
According to the app's listing on the Windows Phone Store, the updated Twitter app (4MB in size) now sports a bigger navigation bar placed on top of the main app screen. In addition to this, the app also has improved reply, retweet, and favourite interface, enabling Windows Phone users to perform these actions directly from their timeline.
One of the major inclusions to the Twitter app for Windows Phone that has been long-awaited is the in-line images feature, with which the users can view the images shared on Twitter from the app without clicking the links every time. Also noted, is the new ability to upload multiple images at once via the app on to their Twitter accounts.
Unfortunately, the recently introduced gif image support is not included in the update. Although it has been mentioned that the gif image support will soon roll out to Android and iOS handsets, there is still no word on the same for Windows Phone OS.
Microsoft has been trying to bring more apps to the Windows Phone Store, apart from pushing for existing app updates, like the recently introduced BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) app under private beta.
The BBM app for Windows Phone beta version 1.0.0.1 can be downloaded via an invitation only from the Windows Phone Store. The app is 11MB in size and is compatible with Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices.
The BlackBerry Messenger app for Windows Phone has been long-awaited ever since the company had launched the BBM app on Android and iOS in October last year.
