FreeCharge, Snapdeal's mobile wallet and payments platform announced its partnership with Café Coffee Day (CCD) on Thursday, which enables offline payments at 1,420 CCD outlets in 187 cities.
FreeCharge will go live with its cashless payments integration on May 9 in 187 cities, based on its patented On-The-Go-Pin, which has been used previously with other QSR chains.
"With CCD, we will expand FreeCharge's digital payment ecosystem to include new users and expand our wallet reach to 187 cities including smaller towns," said Govind Rajan, Chief Operating Officer, FreeCharge.
Other wallet players have partnered with Café Coffee Day for offline payments, with Paytm had announced its integration with the chain in May 2015, while MobiKwik had announced its partnership in March 2015.
Earlier this year FreeCharge had partnered with McDonald's to enable offline payments using its wallet. A spokesperson said that FreeCharge has partnered with fifteen merchants to enable offline payments in the country. The recent launch of its Chat and Pay feature was extended to e-rickshaw drivers in Delhi, enabling merchants from unorganised sectors to accept payments digitally with no investment.
FreeCharge had recently appointed Fareed Jawad as the Principal Product Architect and Vice President (VP) payments. Jawad recently served as Principal Product Architect at [Amazon India](https://www.gadgets360.com/tags/amazon-india), where he was responsible for building the core payment processing infrastructure.
