Snapchat is rolling out a library of animated stickers that you can place on your snaps. The new feature, introduced in partnership with Giphy, is similar to the one recently added to Instagram Stories last month. Also, Snapchat will get a new feature called Tabs, which will help users in organising and seeing the Stories they wish to. The new GIF stickers from Giphy's library is rolling out to Snapchat's Android and iOS apps.

The Giphy addition appears to be Snap's move to help Snapchat keep pace with Instagram. The GIF stickers have been singled out in a tab inside the app and can be searched. To add animated stickers in Snapchat, you need to update the app to the latest version. After you take a snap, go to the Stickers button in the toolbar. Here, you can select an animated GIF from the Giphy collection. Tap the GIF to add it and then you will be able to move it around the image. These stickers also work with video snaps.

As mentioned, the Snapchat app now has Tabs in the Discover and Friends sections. With this feature, users will be able to separate out items for easier discovery and browsing, especially among the huge Discover content section. It essentially enables users to quickly sort friends with Stories, group chats, and Discover subscriptions.

Snapchat has been facing competition from Instagram and Facebook ever since the Stories feature was introduced. Meanwhile, the new features are a part of Snapchat's redesign, which users across the board have decried as a confusing update and pleaded for a chance to roll back to a previous version.

In a major change earlier this month, Snapchat segregated stories from friends and verified celebrities to help them create a brand identity and possibly enable personalities to make more money from the platform. But, millions of users have rejected the decision by signing online petitions. However, CEO Evan Spiegel announced that the redesign of the social media app would not be rolled back.
