Skype 6.0 for Android brings the Material Design interface, which was first introduced with Android 5.0 Lollipop. The new update brings a floating action button, which allows users to start a new conversation, whether starting a video call, audio call, chat, or sending a video message.
The update also enhances the search function in the Skype for Android update. The company notes that now users will be able find contacts and conversations much faster. Skype for Android has received messaging improvements which will now show how many unread messages have been there.
For iPad and iPhone, Skype claims that this is the best app released for the platform. Skype 6.0 brings a major redesign for both iPhone and iPad. The navigation has been tweaked with easier access to conversations. Skype 6.0 brings use of swipe gestures to make calls and manage messages.
Much like for Android, Skype 6.0 for iOS has also received enhanced search. The new Recents tab will allow users to search for messages and find contacts and groups. Skype users on iPad awith the latest update will be able to easily share images, web links, emoticons and even location while on a voice or video call.
"The features you love, now on iPad - All the features you love on Skype for iPhone are on your iPad too," said the Skype team in a blog. Users on iPad will be now able to start a group chat or a group voice call straight from the tablet.
The company in its blog post has confirmed that it is working on the new Windows 10 Mobile app.
