Samsung and mindfulness service Calm have announced a partnership enabling the Samsung Health app to provide more features to the South Korean giant's smartphone users. The Samsung Health app now has a Mindfulness section wherein you can start meditation and relaxation programs powered by Calm. For all those unaware, Calm is an app for sleep, meditation and relaxation; and is available on Google Play for download. Now, Calm's programs can either be accessed via its standalone app or via the new Mindfulness section inside Samsung Health app as well.
To begin using Calm's features on Samsung Health app, users will need to set up or connect their Calm account through the new Mindfulness section. After that is done, users can access programs on sleep, relaxation and meditation on the Samsung Health app. The programs will be available for free during the trial period, after which users will have to pay a subscription fee to access all the content. They can even pause and play sessions using their Galaxy Watch Active and track their stress levels after a session ends.
The integration of Calm inside Samsung Health eliminates the need to install an additional app, and elevates the multitude of abilities the Samsung app already can do. According to the company, the Samsung Health app now has over 60 million monthly active users, and the app allows users to track activities, get coaching tips, and connect with healthcare professionals in real-time.
The new integration will initially be available on Samsung smartphones running Android Pie OS only. Furthermore, it will only be launched in 10 markets across the world i.e, Australia, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, the UK, and the US. The Calm integration will be also available to Galaxy Watch Active users.
"Our work with Calm is going to make it easier than ever for Samsung Health users to practice mindfulness, so they can work towards achieving better overall health. We're excited to be partnering with Calm, a true innovator in the mindfulness space, to support better mental health for consumers around the world," Peter Koo, Corporate SVP and Head of the Health Service Team, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics said on the blog.
