Here's some fresh news from the Rovio stable. The Finnish gaming studio is all set to launch a new game in association with DreamWorks Animation called The Croods, which is expected to reach iOS and Android on March 14th.
Sharing his thoughts on this partnership, Petri Jarvilehto, EVP of Games at Rovio Entertainment said, "DreamWorks Animation's The Croods is filled with wonderful characters and creatures in an incredibly detailed, inventive world - it was just begging for its very own mobile game! It's been an incredible experience having our two teams working closely together on extending the story to mobile platforms."
The Croods is an upcoming 3D animated movie from DreamWorks Animation, SKG Inc set to release on March 22 2013. It narrates the story of the world's first caveman family that sets out on a road trip adventure. The family is said to be moving beyond the Stone Age era with the use of a new r-evolutionary tool: the IDEA!
The film will star voice overs from actors like Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke, and Cloris Leachman.
"Rovio set the industry standard in mobile gaming with Angry Birds, and we believe their massive community of active users will go wild for The Croods," said DreamWorks Animation's Head of Global Interactive, Chris Hewish. He further added, "We've developed a close and collaborative relationship with Rovio in which our world class filmmakers created an incredible piece of custom animation on the home screen that introduces players to the game's beautifully rich aesthetics."
From the images, the game seems to be strategy-based combining elements of Farmville and Pokemon, especially looking at the different creatures.
This is isn't the first game Rovio has developed based on a movie theme. Angry Birds Rio was inspired from the movie Rio revolving around the journey of the bird named Blu, a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, who meets the fiercely independent Jewel and they embark on an adventure in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Rovio was recently in the news for announcing
Angry Birds Toons, the all-new animated cartoon series set on Piggy Island. The series will feature short animation episodes and will be aired every week starting the weekend of March 16th. The episodes promise to take viewers on the latest adventures of the furious avian flock and the egg-thirsty swine.
