Opera has updated the Opera Mini browser for Android with new features and integrations. This includes India-specific updates on Bollywood and cricket on its home page, alongside the ability to download videos on to the smartphone from the browser.

Opera Mini 18 for Android will show a new entertainment feed on its home page. The browser company has partnered up with Bollywood Hungama for this purpose. It has also partnered with Sportskeeda to give live cricket updates on its home page as well.

The browser maker also enabled a new video download feature in Opera Mini 18 for Android, which will essentially allow users to download videos from social networking and other sites onto their devices from the browser directly. By clicking on the video, a pop-up dialogue box with the option to save the video appears. Users can then hit on the Save button to start downloading the video, or press cancel to just stream it online. This feature has been enabled on many websites like VuClip, Hotstar, Times of India, DjPunjab, Indiamp3, Webmusic, and Djmaza.

Opera notes that the feature only works on video websites without their own integrated media player. Video downloading is essentially useful for users who look to loop videos for whatever reasons, without wasting data. The downloaded videos can be saved onto inbuilt storage or to a microSD card installed in the user's device.

Opera Mini recently also introduced a new feature called 'Video Boost' for its Android users. As the name suggests, the feature would help Opera Mini users "see less of the video-buffering wheel."
