Addressing the media after the launch, Ola Director (Marketing & Communications) Anand Subramanian said the app currently hosts over 60,000 cars available across 52 cities, adding that this makes Ola the largest as well as the fastest-growing cab booking app in India.
He said Ola aims to offer a reliable, safe and convenient travel experience to commuters in this port city of Andhra Pradesh.
"To our driver partners, we will offer the best of travel technology so that they can offer top notch travel experience to tourists and city dwellers alike."
In Visakhapatnam, Subramanian said "we currently have 150 cabs on our app and the number will increase to 400 in the next six months. By the end of this year we plan to have 750 cabs on out platform.
"We also aim to create a robust supply side ecosystem in the next one year and this would mean enhanced entrepreneurship opportunities for drivers in the city."
Ola has tied up with car manufacturers like Tata, M&M, Ford, Maruti and Nissan across cities to help drivers buy cars from them directly at discounts up to Rs. 1 lakh, he said.
Subramanian said the company has also tied up with financial institutions to ensure that drivers are able to easily procure car loans.
