Earlier on Wednesday, technology blog The Verge reported via a Czech website that according to a press release issued in the country, Microsoft is planning to launch Office Mobile 2013 in March next year. The press release also revealed that the consumer release of Microsoft Office 2013 (for PCs) is set for February 2013.
Later, Microsoft came out with a statement saying that the details shared by its Czech subsidiary are inaccurate, but it did confirm plans to launch mobile version of Office for iOS and Android.
"As we shared previously, Office Mobile will work across Windows Phones, Android phones and iOS, and we have nothing additional to announce today about retail availability of the new Office," Microsoft told in statement to All Things D.
Right now, Microsoft only provides a mobile version of Office for Windows Phone devices. It would be interesting to see how Microsoft is able to keep the Office advantage to Windows Phone, while still bringing them to Android and iOS.
Official release date might be a mystery, but the March 2013 schedule could turn out to be accurate, as it is possible the Czech subsidiary revealed more than it was supposed to.
