Microsoft's Slack competitor may be all set to launch next month, if a new report is to be believed. The new group messaging app from Microsoft will be called Microsoft Teams and not Skype Teams as previously reported.

MS Poweruser in a new report claims that the company gave the group messaging app a new name ahead of the expected November 2 Office event. The report also includes a logo for the Microsoft Teams service which sports blue background and looks inspired by other Microsoft service logos. The report adds that the teams.skype.com URL now redirects to teams.microsoft.com, though it requires users to log-in.

The upcoming Microsoft Teams group messaging app will most likely come with all popular features previously seen on Slack. Being a Microsoft product, the Microsoft Teams will come with deep integration with other company services. The report claims that popular Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will be integrated into the group messaging. For file sharing, the Microsoft Teams will also come integrated with OneDrive cloud storage service.

One of the biggest advantages of Microsoft Teams rumoured is the video calling feature which will be powered by Skype. MS Poweruser reports that Microsoft Teams will also come with audio call feature which will be present in the app.

The group messaging app from Microsoft is also expected to feature thread conversation which is a feature missing on Slack. Some of the features like Channels and direct messaging will be available on the Microsoft Teams. We can expect more details to surface as we reach near the November 2 Office event.

Facebook earlier this month unveiled Workplace by Facebook, which is a workplace communication and collaboration app competing against Slack.
