Mega for iOS, the app for the 'secure' cloud storage service', has been given an update bringing in two new features, which includes the photo-synchronisation ability, syncing a user's images from the iPhone or iPad automatically with the cloud storage app, and a new passcode lock feature.

The app works just like Dropbox and other cloud storage apps, and can also act as a backup drive for other multimedia data as well. The Mega for iOS application can be also customized according to user's needs. In the latest version 1.1, the users can also upload via mobile data in the absence of Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Mega for iOS app now also includes a passcode lock, which includes a four-digit passcode, needed to be entered by the user every time a user accesses the app. The app also gives an option to erase the data in the app if an incorrect password is applied over 10 times. Some bug fixes and speed improvements has been also included with the new version.

The Mega cloud storage app for iOS comes with 50GB of storage space with a monthly and yearly subscription for $10.99 and $119.99 respectively. The app was introduced in iOS back in November 2013. The app is sized at a minimal 4MB, and is compatible with devices running iOS 6.0 and later. The app is available for download from the iTunes App Store.

Competitors to Mega have been offering similar features for a while, which also include file syncing and transferring. The popular cloud storage apps in Android are Google Drive and Dropbox, which also need users to subscribe to increase the storage space. Windows Phones have SkyDrive, which comes with a 7GB of storage space.
