Apple has released redesigned iCloud apps for its iWork suite with some document collaboration upgrades, as well as more document editing and storage options. The apps have been released with beta status.

The updated Pages, Numbers and Keynote iCloud apps include collaboration for up to 100 members on single document at a time, a feature we have already seen with Google Drive. Previously the iWork for iCloud apps would let up to 50 users collaborate on a single file, reports 9to5 Mac.

Another major overhaul Apple has included in its updated iWork for iCloud apps is an increased file storage limit, up from the previous 200MB to a massive 1GB along with the individual image sizes from 5MB to 10MB.

The Pages, Keynote and Numbers application in iWork for iCloud will also be receiving the ability to make 2D charts along with formatting upgrades and colour changes. New export functions for Pages (export to epub) and Numbers (export to csv). Apple has detailed all the changes at its iWork page.

Last month, Apple updated its iWork apps for iCloud, iOS and Mac, within a week of Microsoft's release of the Office productivity suite for iPad.

The updated Pages, Numbers and Keynote apps now have improved Retina display support, and bring updated designs for the document, spreadsheet and presentation editors. It has also added the new sharing option that allows users to share documents in a view-only state.

The iCloud versions of the apps can now open password-protected documents, spreadsheets and presentations from Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additionally, these iWork apps for the Mac and iOS will preserve custom number formats in charts imported from Office docs.
