The photo-collage app Layout from Instagram, which was launched for iPhone in March this year, has finally reached the Android platform.
The app features the same design as seen in its iOS app version and comes with the same features. Layout features include the ability to automatically find pictures containing faces, and the option to share collages to social network Facebook as well as Instagram.
Users can mirror, flip, or replace the images, pinch to zoom in or out, and edit them in several other ways to create a collage. Users can remix up to nine images at a time and capture quick shots using the Photo Booth mode. They can also choose images from the photo library and slot them into pre-defined collage options.
The Layouts can be saved on the device's camera roll. A Recent tab has also been added letting users view their last 30 selected images. Unlike other collage-making apps, Layout doesn't give you the option of adding borders, writing captions, or applying filters. However, pairing the Layout images with Instagram filters is possible from the app.
The Layout app for Android weighs 1.8MB, and is compatible with devices running Android Jelly Bean 4.1 and later OS versions, and is available to download from Google Play.
Instagram, which as per a recent study on average has higher post interactions than Facebook and Twitter, has been lately finding new ways to enter to augment its photo-editing capabilities. The firm in April introduced new image editing tools in its app. New filters and emoji hashtags also came as a part of the latest update.
