However, now Techcrunch is reporting that the social networking giant will be looking at launching a Vine-like features for Instagram on June 20.
Instagram is a popular photo-sharing application that is available for Android and iOS. Facebook had acquired Instagram in 2012 for a whopping $1 billion. About three months ago, Instagram had announced that it has 100 million monthly active users and these users are uploading over 40 million photos per day.
The addition of video capabilities in this application will be a step in the right direction and help the users to use a single app to upload their pictures and videos. In addition to this, video services such as Vine are also popular amongst advertisers and Facebook might be looking at increasing its revenue stream through introduction of this service.
A month earlier, matthewkeys.net had reported that Facebook is in the process of testing a video feature that will be added in Instagram shortly. The same report also indicated that these videos could range between five to ten seconds.
Vine is a video application by Twitter. The micro blogging site had introduced Vine for iOS in January 2013 and the Android version of this app was rolled out later. This app lets users capture six second videos and share them instantly. The application has been quite popular since launch.
Only last week, Facebook added hashtags in its comments and earlier it added verified accounts, so it will not be a surprise if the social networking giant copies Twitter yet again and launches a short video capturing application.
