Instagram's Android version has hit 1 million downloads less than 24 hours
since it became available on
Google Play.
Instagram, until yesterday available on iOS only, is a vintage photography app that allows you to take pictures, personalize them with a whole bunch of cool effects and then share them for all your friends to see. It has over 30 million registered users worldwide.
Instagram for iOS took over two months to to reach 1 million users (not downloads). Clocking over a million downloads in less than 24 hours on Android, shows how much Instagram has evolved as a brand, more than saying anything about either of the platforms. With over 430,000 pre-registrations, the pent-up demand for Instagram on Android was clearly high. Thus, the success of the Android version is no surprise. If anything, the numbers will surely get only bigger.
Instagram for Android has debuted to mixed reviews, with many users complaining about the stability of the app. We experienced some issues on one of the phones, while it worked perfectly fine on another. Check out our detailed
