Google's Play Store has turned 1 year old and the search giant is celebrating the momentous occasion by offering goodies to its Android users in the form of various discounts, gift cards and exclusive in-game content.
Folks over at the Google Play Team send across this message, "It was just a year ago today that we launched this amazing shop on the interwebs to offer the best in digital content. Since the best parties are the ones that send you home with a present, today we celebrate our birthday with a festive goodie bag full of gifts. Don't delay in picking up these limited-time offers. It's been an incredible first year and we look forward to sharing the gift of digital diversions for many more to come."
The deals range from free books and music to discounted movies and TV rentals, along with new Android-themed additions in some games. Deals seem to differ depending on the country and region. Among the offers are a 10 percent discount with Hotels.com, a $15 gift card from the Google+ Sign-In partner Fancy, 99-cent movie rentals, free song tracks from The Velvet Underground and LCD Soundsystem and more.
Currently, three different games namely Gnome Village, Royal Revolt and Yumby Smash all have new free levels, discounts on in-app purchases or exclusive characters available for a limited time.
As of now, there are a total of 5 deals seen on this
page. But Google will be kicking off an entire week of deals on different content, so make sure to check back and grab more deals that they plan to offer in the coming days.
Google rechristened the Android Market to Google Play on this very day last year and more recently it introduced
Books in the Indian Play Store.
Google Play also posted a YouTube video which shows various game developers wishing Google by incorporating birthday elements in their app creations.
