The search giant is also touting more accurate transliteration and Hindi candidate suggestions with the new keyboard app. Google says the Hindi Input keyboard apps now dynamically changes the consonant or vowel compound forms while the user is typing. Google explains, saying, "when [a] user types a consonant, the vowels on the top row changes into the consonant / vowel compound forms."
Voice input and Emoji input shortcut keys have also been added to the new Google Hindi Input app, apart from Hindi handwriting support. Google adds that the Google Hindi Input app now features a new Hindi keyboard for Android tablets.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Google quietly rolled out Hindi voice search to the Google Maps app for iOS. The release notes for the latest update don't mention this new feature, but users can find it by tapping the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) on the top-left > Settings > Voice search. The language can be selected by scrolling down past the languages written in the Roman script. The options show Hindi (Bharat) in Devanagri script.
