The Google Hangouts for iOS update ensures that the app looks a lot more layered on the iOS 7 interface. One of the more important aspects of the overhaul is that there is complete iPad support for it. The app will now support a two-column layout, and offer animated stickers that can be sent in messages. Maps can also be sent in messages, making it easier for users to meet up with friends.
The updated Google Hangouts for iOS app, which is a 24.2MB download, is available for free on the iTunes App Store. The description on the app store reads that there is improved optimisation for picture-in-picture calling on the iPad, and in addition, the app will also allow users to send 10-second-long video messages. In fact, the official Google Hangouts webpagementions that users can now stay connected across platforms. It also mentions that the Google Hangouts for iOS app works on iOS 6.1+ across iPhone 4+, iPad 2+, iPad mini and iPod Touch 4th generation.
The upgrade for Hangouts was an understandable one, and long overdue. The new integration for the iPad is an important improvement, given that users can finally make use of the bigger screen on the iPad.
