The updated Chrome v41 for Android along with the pull-down page refresh feature has also brought a fix for the buggy merged tab feature on Android Lollipop devices. Other changes include the ability to disable third-party cookies, and reduced information in HTTP headers.
Unfortunately, Chrome for Android version 41 (41.0.2272.92-2272092) is not yet available on Google Play India. However, users can download the Google-signed apk from APK Mirror via Android Police and sideload the app.
Earlier this month, Google had announced that Chrome 42 will be the last update for devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The Chrome 42 release is slated for mid-April. Alongside, the search giant also revealed that Google Chrome 43 can be expected to be released by the end of May.
Google's Aurimas Lutikas, Software Engineer, in a blog post, explained that the number of Chrome users running Ice Cream Sandwich has dropped by 30 percent and it is hard for the team to support an older Android version while also building new version for devices running updated Android.
To put some context, Google's latest Android version distribution numbers suggested that Android 4.0.x or Ice Cream Sandwich was running on just 5.9 percent of devices, dropping from 6.4 percent the previous month. It's a clear indicator that the usage of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has dropped significantly.
