Fallout Shelter, a mobile video game based on the post-apocalyptic RPG series Fallout, has now got an Android launch window. The video game was released for iOS at E3 2015 last month.

The free-to-play mobile game is said to arrive on Android handsets next month, as mentioned by Bethesda's Vice President of Marketing Peter Hines. Hines, in a conversation in Twitter replied to a user stating "coming along nice. haven't announced a date, but should be out next month. we'll let you know when we have specifics."

The game puts the user in charge of taking care of an underground vault - a settlement of survivors from a nuclear blast, and growing it. Users can choose from a variety of modern-day rooms. While it sports in-app purchases, at no point in the game will your progress be stifled because of it and there's no requirement to be always online either. Exploring above ground level also lets users find new armour and weapons, gain experience, and earn Caps inside the game.

Fallout Shelter has done exceedingly well on the iOS platform since its launch. According to App Annie data, it was the number three grossing app on the App Store in the United States on June 16 and June 17, just a day after its release on June 15. It was only Clash of Clans and Game of War: Fire Age. However it managed to beat out Candy Crush Saga from the top three for the first time since January 2013. Interestingly, it was also the most downloaded game in the US for four days straight, from June 15 to June 18.

The game, while much-played, could be considered a way to generate wide interest in Fallout 4, Bethesda's upcoming open-world video game for desktop and consoles. The video game pre-order for PC would set users back by Rs. 2,499. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One variants will cost you Rs. 3,999, around Rs. 500 more than what most other games cost. And though officially there's no release date, a recent report hints that the game will be out this year itself.
