At its F8 2018 keynote address, Facebook announced many new features for WhatsApp, Instagram, and even Messenger. The company revealed that Messenger will be getting a dark mode, a new cleaner layout, and fresh chat features like real-time translation. Facebook will also integrate AR camera effects in Messenger to satiate the creative minds of businesses and consumers.
Apart from bragging about its chat bot success, David Marcus, VP of Messaging Products, spoke about the additions coming to Messenger 'very soon'. Facebook Messenger is also getting a dark mode, and a cleaner layout. The tabs at the bottom have been reduced to three, focusing on communication, and the camera and call buttons have been moved to the top.
The buttons within the Facebook Messenger chat conversation have also been reduced from six to four, and users will also get an option to choose gradient colours for their message bubbles. While Facebook has said that all these features are going to be rolled out very soon, there is no confirmed timeline yet.
During the keynote, Facebook also introduced new features on Instagram like video calling support, Slow-mo mode for Stories, and a Mute button to remove certain profiles from your feed. WhatsApp is getting group video calling support and new stickers to make chat conversations more engaging.
