There are some achievements that can even make a company like Google proud. Google's Internet browser has now achieved one such feat, as the search giant has announced that there are over two billion active Chrome browsers in the world.

At the Chrome Dev Summit in San Francisco on Thursday Chrome Engineering VP Darin Fisher announced that there are currently two billion Chrome browsers in active use across platforms. Interestingly, this makes Chrome the first Google product to hit the two billion installs mark.

"I wanted to make this point that there are a lot of Chrome browsers out there.... What's exciting about this to you all is that when you think about building for the Web, there' a lot of browsers out there that implement the latest web standards - that implement the latest and greatest Web features," Fisher reportedly said.

Even though the figure is impressive, it should be noted that it just because the browser is installed on an active device, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is being used on a day-to-day basis. Many people may have Chrome installed as their secondary browser, or it may be a browser that shipped with their device but they might prefer something else.

Other Google products that have one billion users include Google Maps, Android, Google Play Store, Google Search, and Gmail.

Recent reports have suggested that Google is working to make the Chrome browser easier to use on large screen devices. In the latest Dev and Canary builds of the browser on Android, a feature named 'Chrome Home' was discovered, which shifts the address bar to the bottom of the screen.
