The update brought along a major change as the browser finally switched from Flash to HTML5 as default. Now the Chrome 55 update rollout has started on Android and brings along a feature that allows users to more easily save pictures, videos, and webpages for offline viewing.
The latest Chrome update on Android brings along the ability to "Easily download music, videos, and even full webpages for viewing offline," Google said in its blog. Users will get the save icon feature next to the audio or video players to initiate the background download. The 'Downloads' section in the browser shows the amount of space taken up by the downloads from the browser.
The Downloads section shows the list of downloads with sub-division according to the file types such as pages, video, audio, images, and documents.
As per the search giant, users can now see and share their downloads within the browser itself. Further, the update brings along a feature that highlights the misspelled words in the text fields within the browser.
Google says that the update brings improvements to the contextual search UI within the browser as well. Chrome 55 update comes with other performance improvements and bug fixes as well.
The update on Android will further benefit the devices with low memory due to reduction of JavaScript Heap Size and Zone Memory Reduction, as per the report. The company says that the update will be rolled out over next few days.
