Restaurant review and recommendation engine Burrp, announced the the release of its new look on Tuesday, based on Google's Material Design guidelines.
The mobile and Web user interface features new sections for offers and events. Burrp said that the new app will send in-app notifications if the user has registered for the 'Offers' section. The events section provides users city-based updates on events food festivals, live performances etc, which can be bookmarked by the user.
The app update also provides a simpler interface for sorting and filtering though user reviews and search results based on parameters like distance, food quality, service, ambience, and music.
"With every new update, we have a simple objective: Reduce the number of steps users needs to undertake to get to what they need. Addition of offers and events on the home screen is a step in that direction. We're not looking at restaurant and food discovery in isolation, but as a culmination of everything the platform has to offer," said Abhishek Chhajlani, Co-Business Head, Burrp in an emailed statement.
Google had announced its new design language - Material Design at the 2014 Google I/O conference, which was later rolled out on all of its apps on Android by 2015.
The update is currently live on its app, available for Android users on Google Play, and will soon be available on iOS, the company said.
Founded in 2006, Burrp was acquired by Infomedia18 in 2009. The company said that it presently has a presence in 14 cities, with over 65,000 partners add 5,00,000 mobile app downloads.
