Apple TV Remote App Gets iPad Support, iWork Suite Update Brings Touch ID Protection and More

Apple has just released updates to its iWork suite of apps enabling Touch ID protection for all private documents and files. It also updated Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps with additional editing features, and also updated the Apple TV remote app separately to bring support for iPads.

The Apple TV remote app worked fine on the iPhone, but was not supported on iPad tablets. Now, with version 1.1, the app brings support for iPads, which means you can control the Apple TV through the big screen device as well. In addition, the update also brings an enhanced ‘Now Playing’ experience with lyrics and playlists for music and chapters, audio tracks, and captions selection for movies and TV shows. The Cupertino giant has also updated all of the apps in iWork suite across iOS, macOS, and the iCloud webapps to enable the ability to open password-protected documents and files using Touch ID. The update also makes it easier to find and replace fonts across documents for better uniformity. Apps like Pages, Numbers, and Keynote get additional features as well, and all of the new features are detailed below. You can download all these updates for free from the iOS or macOS App Store.

Pages app gets the ability to add bookmarks that allow you to link one part of a document to another (used mostly for reference purposes). The new version 6.1 also introduced the ability to import and export RTF documents. The entire changelog is listed below:

Keynote version 7.1’s most notable additions include a new black background option while seeing notes, and the ability to post interactive presentations on Medium or WordPress. The new features also include:

New Object List makes it easy to select, edit, and organize objects even on complex slides
New option to display presenter notes on black background makes them easier to read while presenting in low-light settings
Easily replace fonts throughout an entire presentation
New leader lines make pie charts easier to read
Quickly open password-protected presentations using Touch ID on the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar
New stock and currency functions provide up-to-date securities data in tables
Post interactive presentations on Medium, WordPress, and other websites
Import Keynote 1.0 presentations
Customize dates, times, and currencies for your language or region

The Numbers app gets updated to version 4.1 and it brings the ability to add current or historical stock information to spreadsheets among other things. All the new features are listed below:

Quickly open password-protected spreadsheets using Touch ID on the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar
New leader lines make pie charts easier to read
Easily replace fonts throughout an entire spreadsheet
