Apple on Thursday introduced a new app collection called the 'Best of April' on the App Store.

The section highlights the best new apps, games and updates released in the month of April. The new "Best of April" section includes separate picks for the iPhone and iPad.

The "Best of April" section, first spotted by MacStories, is further divided into two sections: Great Games and Amazing Apps. Currently, the Great Games category includes 25 games, while the Amazing Apps section includes 24 apps, as detailed in the the "Best of April" section.

Now that Apple has started this, we can expect to see similar sections on the App Store each month, highlighting the top picks of the previous month.

Some of the listed apps and games in the new promotional section include Monument Valley, Fantastical for iPad, Duolingo, and Hitman GO.

Applehas also listed the "Best App and Game" list for April 2014 , which includes Hearthstone and Comedy Central for the iPad tablet, and Leo's Fortune and NYT Now for the iPhone.

Earlier, Apple added a new section for indie games on the iTunes App Store, termed as "Indie Game Showcase" which highlighted the indie game developers. The first Indie Games Showcase featured Simogo, the developer of a popular game - Device 6. Device 6 is a narrative-based puzzle game and was a runner-up in 2013's Game of the Year award. Simogo is also known for Year Walk, another critically acclaimed game.
