  • therefore my review reflects this awesome price. Would I to pay list
Daniel Patton (Oct 13, 2017) on Amazon
I got this laptop as a warehouse deal for less than half price; therefore my review reflects this awesome price. Would I to pay list, I would still give it 4 stars.Let's start with the form factor. It is pretty standard for a business laptop. No frills, but it is sleek and professional. It's build feels very solid. A bit heavy, but millspec for sure. The keyboard is backlit, but not brightness adjustable. It is a little shallow, but not terrible for a portable notebook. That said, the fingerprint scanner is pretty awful; it consustently takes 2 or 3 attempts to work. The display is bright and clear, but has nothing on the 3k display on my MSI. I guess that is only to be expected at a quarter of the priceOn the inside, this thing seems pretty exceptional. The i7 keeps things running smoothly. The nvidia 940m is a nice touch. It runs basic photo shop well and most steam games at low to medium res. The cooling system seems pretty competant. I have not had any of the noise issues the other reviewer mentioned. This unit seems silent unless performing extremely resource intensive tasks.Overall, this is a pretty great mid to high end business laptop.

  • It was like a loud car engine and then a hurricane arrived
Roy The Guatemalan (Nov 28, 2016) on Amazon
Well, I had high hopes for this and yes it worked well according to its specifications. Though it felt a bit delicate. And the noise it made! It started the moment the machine was switched on, and I thought, oh, it's just loading stuff. But it kept going and going and going and never stopped. And then the fan kicked in. And that lasted for a bit, then it was just back to the loud internal revving of the machine. And this was with an SDD too! It was like a loud car engine and then a hurricane arrived. It was impossible to work with. And at the price it was, it shouldn't be like that. So, for about the same price, I got a Dell Latitude which doesn't make a noise and when the fan does kick in it's barely noticeable. If they had done something about the noise, I'd have kept this. It also came with Windows 7 instead of Windows 10 which it should have come with. And I was grateful for this because I could send it back and not pay the 15% restocking fee. I also tried another couple of these high end Acer travelmates. And they all had the same loud noise issue. So be warned.
