Great surface pro alternative. Battery life around 5 to 6 hours. Just get a power bank and you are all set.

Nice upgrade to the Alpha 5

Received my Acer Switch 5 (SW5 12) much faster than the estimated date and everything was included in the box. I have used the SW5 for about four weeks now with no issue and it appears that they have fixed many of the issues seen on Switch Alpha 12 (SA5). The SW5 can be charged via the USB type ?c port just like the Alpha and I have used an external monitor via the USB Type-c to HDMI converter with no issues. Battery life is anywhere from 5 to 8 hours depending on settings and what you are doing. I did stream three movies straight on Netflix starting at 100% battery and was at 28% when the 3rd movie completed. I have been very pleased with this product and the seller.

Great device for a fraction of the price of a Surface Pro

I've only had the switch for a few weeks but this has been a great addition to my digital life. The device (I hesitate to call it a laptop or tablet) is very light weight and the adjustable kickstand makes it easy to view from almost any angle. The long battery life and standby time make it that much more of a joy to use. I'm not big on the stylus but when I've needed it, it's been spot on. And if you don't like the Acer stylus, you can use a Surface Pen. The keyboard has been one of my silent joys. I use a mechanical keyboard at home because I appreciate the key travel and feel. This keyboard is much more like a rubber dome but still has decent key travel unlike the Surface. I really could go on and on but instead I'll put a list of pros and cons below. I really hope this info helps someone that's looking at buying this great Hybrid.Pros:10 Hr batteryLightweightGreat keyboard2k screenUSB type A & USB type C ports (yes you can charge over USB-C)Wireless has good rangeCons:Screen isn't bright enough (tons of glare)You have to reconnect the keyboard sometimes to get it to switch to laptop modeFingerprint reader sometimes stops working until you reboot

Es super práctica, pero es necesario que le compres una funda y tener mucho cuidado ya que la pantalla tiende a estrellarse con facilidad. Yo la cambie una vez. La segunda ya no, la primera se callo desde la cama unos 30 cm del piso y se rompió.

Everything good but the battery

This is an awesome tablet.Pros+The performance is too good, I haven't experienced lag even with 15 applications on at the same time. The 7th gen i5 does its job.+ I love the screen+ The pen and keyboard are free. I never thought I would need a pen but since I have one, I am finding myself use it very often and it makes some illustration tasks very easy.+The fingerprint reader is a good way to sign even in dark rooms when the face recognition may not work that well.+ The charger uses a dedicated port and no usb or C ports are being occupied while charging. The charging rate is super fast and one can charge it completely from 0-100 in just 100 minutes!Cons-I find the fingerprint reader disconnect sometime. I am not sure if it is just my unit.-The battery life is no where what was expected, again it could be just my unit. I get 5 hours (against 10.5 hours advertised) with my kind of heavy usage (browsing, songs, wifi, brightness 25%) but even with everything off, low brightness, and simply watching Netflix videos, this doesn't last more than 6.5 hours. Although the low charging time does make up for this but I would have returned in had the return procedure not been so difficult in US (sending it via postal service and risk losing/damaging it during the transit). In India, I could just call amazon for return and one amazon courier guy would pick it up right from my door steps, which was easy and secure.

powerful, small, draw onscreen, runs Linux
Mik (Mar 29, 2018)

Nice small, fast alternative to my previous laptop. The main reason i chose this is the ability to draw with pressure onscreen without having to pay the ridiculous price of a Surface or iPad Pro + pen, and it delivered that well. The price of the Switch 5 seems to fluctuate a lot...i got mine for $750, and that was the upper limit of what i was willing to pay.Good news for Linux users: Linux is fairly easy to install, although a little different than what some (myself included) may be accustomed to. I installed Debian Testing (Buster), which required disabling secure boot, which itself required setting a boot password. I've never seen that behavior before. During installation, the "non-free" iwlwifi firmware package was needed for wifi to work; plugging in a second pendrive with this package in its root took care of it. After installation, it was necessary to disable Wayland in order for the stylus to work. I've read that Wayland will have stylus support in the upcoming 1.20 release of xorg...we'll see. The one problem i've faced after that has been having to enter password twice after returning from sleep. This may be a Gnome bug?CON: The ports and buttons seem arbitrarily placed without a lot of thought or feedback. Every few days i find myself pressing the power button while plugging something into the opposite side. The power port is particularly odd, especially if you are using this as a laptop...it would make more sense if it was at the bottom of the screen/tablet. The lack of HDMI port and only two USB ports is a little disappointing, but i hope a USB+HDMI hub will make it all better. The keyboard seems a little squishy.

Met or exceeded expectations. Love it. Would, and have, recommend it. Wish the battery would last all day. Charges quickly though, which helps. Trying to figure out if there is some way to rig a power bank to work with it.
