Perfect.

This is a great buy and I have had no issues with it. I question the battery life expectations however as I have not been able to use it as long as indicated. Overall this is a great price and a great basic computer.

My laptop just arrived yesterday, so I hope I'm not premature in giving the 5 stars! My luck with computers has been dismal and this is my last brand to buy (after HP, Samsung, Dell, Lenovo) before taking the plunge to Mac. So far though I am thrilled with my Acer. It is far better than I expected and has some little changes that I've longed for but have never found in a comparably priced pc. For one thing, and I really love this, the keyboard has been rearranged exactly like I would have done it. The brightness control and the volume control are right by the space bar. I hate hate hate searching for the tiny controls on the small back keys when on a phone call! Problem solved. Also, there is NO wasted space on this baby. It has a full optical drive with cd/dvd burner. And ports are on both sides and the front of the computer. Plenty of ports! Another fabulous surprise was the lighted keyboard, which was not mentioned in any of the description. The monitor is back lighted too which I understand is better colors and runs cooler. I've bought a lot of computers in my life but NEVER have found all these features at this unbelievable. I have high hopes for this one; thus the 5 stars.

I purchased this lap top in February and a second in March. Everything was great except the WiFi download speed. The router was old and failing so Verizon replaced it. My other WiFi PC (ASUS) speed increased by 10 times. These PCs did not. I spent hours going over settings and bios updates but it was still under 5 Mbits download and upload was 75 Mbits. I was going to either return them or send them for repair. I didn't want to do either. I could find no others with the same specs and good reviews for near the same money. I found the solution on a E 15 forum and it worked great. Right click on the Microsoft start logo, select device manager, expand the network adapter icon, right click on Qualcomm wireless network adapter and choose properties, in the properties window choose wireless mode, Try option #3 11 b/g, run speed check. You can also update the driver by right clicking the Qualcomm adapter and choosing up date driver. Microsoft will have a new one or not. The download speed increased by a factor of 7. The problem was due to the default setting being set to the latest and greatest router and even my new replacement is older technology and this causes issues with the default on this PC until you down grade the mode.

Works much better than I expected! Lame memory configuration, but for the price, go buy 16GB to put into it.

Although this device functioned well, I returned it only because I didn't need all of its functionality. I purchased a Chromebook instead.

Great value for price. I am impressed with this computer. Easy to set up, good screen resolution, cd drive works, a winner. I had one problem running a Windows 10 update, called Acer contact that Amazon provides and fixed in a few minutes. I am beyond happy

I got an extra 4GB RAM following instructions on the internet. The one I got was the Ballistix Sport LT 4GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) SODIMM 260-Pin - BLS4G4S240FSD (Gray). But as long as you are careful to match the right specs it should not matter. It is slow to boot up, not surprising because I did not switch to a SSD. It's fast enough for normal use and it looks good and feels solid. I wanted an old school computer because for teaching I need to be able to project DVDs. It also has lots of ports. I like how it looks. It is heavy, not the type you want to bring on an flight. Since it mainly serves as a desktop replacement at home portability is not a prime concern. I have a Mac air which I love and a Chromebook, this ACER fits into a niche and does the job very well.

My fiance recommended this laptop for me, and I'm absolutely in love with it. It starts up within seconds, and I haven't had any problems with it despite all of the programs that I use.

As a student I couldn't ask for a better laptop. Office Suite is free with my .edu email. Runs fast and have had no issues at all after a month. As a tech person I find new features to use all the time with this laptop, and for the price you can't beat it. This is a great price for the screen size and intel processor. If I had to choose again, I would definitely pick this laptop 100%.

ONLY Hesitated Because I Feared Casing Would Look Cheap & Plastic-y....omg, sooooo glad it doesn't! I'm only going to talk about the look of the computer because EVERYTHING EVERYONE (in the 5 star reviews, that is : ) is 100% true.I was confident the computer would perform great due to all the great in depth reviews, but i worried it would look "very budget". I was looking at a "matte Black Metal Casing HP Power 15 and the finish on that was beautiful, but it didn't do 360 and it wasn't touchscreen, so really it didn't have much on this one, (more RAM, better chip but that's about it) and it was $999.00! i was tempted because the finish was sooooo sleek and stealth looking, but honest to goodness, NOT 600 bucks, "worth of difference"!This is truly a REALLY nice looking, great feeling computer, looks really nice on my couch when not in use and a joy to use! I didn't even bother with the upgrades, the RAM price in 2018 has shot up 50%, and i don't feel like jacking around with migrating Windows to the M2 SSD slot, i just do very basic tasks while watching TV, but it "flies thru everything"! May upgrade in future, but for my needs in looks AND performs "perfect"!i have bought many, many laptops over the years, and i always find myself dissatisfied when they arrive for one reason or another, but i can honestly say this is a winner on EVERY FRONT! (Price, value, styling, performance AND LOOKS!)

I almost never write reviews, but I felt I had to for this computer. I bought it for my wife, and was impressed at how it performed right out of the box. It seemed solidly built and was faster than her older HP and my Toshiba laptop. After using it for a few days, I decided to get one for myself. I installed a 275gb solid state drive (Crucial) and an 8mb ram stick (also Crucial), and now the computer is very fast indeed. Boot up is about 10 seconds. I've never cloned a hard drive before, but the process was very easy using the EaseUs To Do software which is free to use for a month. Just follow the directions on the screen and, a few clicks later, you will have cloned the original hard disk (which is rather slow) to the solid state drive (which is much, much faster.) Two more things - the machine is absolutely silent in use. I've never heard the fan go on and I'm not even sure it has one. Second, the battery life is indeed amazing. So far, I'm getting between nine and ten hours on a charge - wonderful!As for the negatives, there are a couple. The usb 3.0 ports are way too close together, making it almost impossible to plug two devices in at the same time unless your flash drive sticks are quite narrow. I consider this to be a design flaw that could have easily been avoided. Aside from this, I agree with what has already been written. The interior is a fingerprint magnet, but so what? I can't comment on the touchpad because I hate the things and never use it. Others have said it's not very smooth and I assume they're right. If the touchpad is important to you, I suggest you find one in a store and try it out before buying.All in all, for about $550, I have what is (so far) the best laptop I've ever owned. I can't see why you wouldn't buy one unless you're into heavy gaming. Go for it!

This is the 4th laptop that I have purchased in the last 6 or 7 months, looking to replace an aging HP that is nearly 5 years old. I wanted a device that could handle graphic-heavy games, had a great display, and didn't break the bank. Acer hit the mark with this one. Backlit LED display, backlit keyboard (huge plus for me), and good battery life make this a great deal. And at under $350.00, there were very few competitors. Now, I'm not a computer nerd, but I know a few things. Unfortunately, the market is flooded with budget laptops that claim to perform well, and have fast speed. It is hard to know what is going to meet your needs just by a short description of the item. But this Acer has the right combination, in my opinion. I also like the fact that the hard-drive and RAM chips are easily upgraded via a removable panel on the bottom. My last HP did not offer such a feature, forcing the user to seek professionals to upgrade. I already identified the memory chips necessary for this laptop, and can order them on Amazon and upgrade it myself in a matter of minutes. I love the backlit keyboard, as I often use the computer in the evening, with little ambient light. Overall, this is a great buy. Really great. I may purchase another one for my daughters to use. I love it.
