Nokia 7 first Chinese flash sale a success
The first flash sale of the new Nokia 7 in China was a huge success, according to two reports, with the phone going out of stock in minutes, after e-commerce sites JD.com and Suning reported receiving over 150,000 registrations in total. There's no word on how many units have been sold, though. Pre-registrations for the Nokia 7 had begun immediately after the official launch in China on October 20.

The phone sits between the Nokia 6 and Nokia 8, given its numbering, and has two variants: 4GB RAM at CNY 2,499 (about Rs. 25,000), and 6GB RAM at CNY 2,699 (about Rs. 26,500). Beyond that, it has a full-HD 5.2-inch IPS display, Snapdragon 630, 64GB internal storage, 16-megapixel f/1.8 rear camera, and 5-megapixel front camera. Like the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 capable of 'Bothie' pictures, where both sensors simultaneously capture photos to create one image.

OnePlus 5T teaser images leaked
Teaser images for the rumoured OnePlus 5T have leaked via Android Authority, which put the focus on the minimal bezels around the display. It's also expected to have an 18:9 aspect ratio like most other flagship phones today, and launch sometime in November. Android Authority adds that the OnePlus 5T might have the same chassis as the 5, allowing older accessories to work with the new phone.

Further issues with Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL
Some Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL users have noticed further issues with their devices, reporting clicking and high-pitched sounds on the former, and a black smear on the display with the latter, whose burn-in issue is still being investigated by Google. According to members on the Pixel User Community forum, the Pixel 2 continues to emit those sounds even after a reboot or factory reset.

For what it's worth, Google has acknowledged the issue and has promised a software patch next week. As for the Pixel 2 XL, the black smear is a familiar issue for OLED panels, but it's much worse on Google's new phone.

Samsung, Apple headed to court again
A US judge has ordered a new trial to figure out how much Samsung should pay Apple for copying the look of the iPhone, 10 months after the Supreme Court had set aside a $399 million (roughly Rs. 2,592 crores) award against the Korean giant. Koh said the jury instructions at the Apple-Samsung trial "did not accurately reflect the law" and may have prejudiced Samsung by preventing jurors from considering whether any infringement covered "something other than the entire phone."

Facebook begins testing split News Feed
Facebook has begun testing a dual News Feed – one for friends and family, and the other for pages liked – for users in six smaller countries: Bolivia, Cambodia, Guatemala, Serbia, Slovakia, and Sri Lanka. The test will likely go on for months, Facebook's News Feed head Adam Mosseri said in a blog post. The change could mean that companies might need to pay Facebook to run advertisements in the friends and family feed.

Next Android update to have more secure DNS requests
Google is working on including "DNS over TLS" in the next Android update, which will encrypt DNS requests to further secure your browsing experience. Usually, DNS requests are made via TCP/ UDP which allows ISPs to see what websites you visit even if you're using HTTPS. But with TLS, the web address itself would be masked.

It's still not fool-proof, as TLS does not protect the IP address from being communicated. Moreover, not many DNS providers accept requests over TLS. For now, your best bet for privacy is still a VPN then. DNS over TLS will be available under Developer Options in Android 8.1 Oreo.
